Hi Brilliant_Ad5830 You mentioned that "playing chicken strategy can make you go bankrupt". Under any circumstances, the most spouse will get is 50% right?

Reaching out to anyone who can provide facts based on experience. Has anyone tried lump sum settlement in long term marriage? What's the basis used for lump sum? Also, if anyone can pls share typical spousal support offered as % of their net income. Thanks

Thanks for the details. I do want to settle and do it amicably. I have finalized a lawyer but heard that lawyers try to push it to trial. I am trying to convince her that cost of trial is money we can give to kids. I was told by two lawyers that for 25 yrs marriage, it will be indefinite spousal support (unless she marries). The expected amount varied between lawyers and is frustrating that it could be 4-6k. That's going to really upset my finances.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
