My parents who were my sponsors were a major factor in where I ended up when I was younger. I had expressed interest in IT but they insisted on my going into the medical field at the time. They meant well and I went along with it. It wasn't until much later that I realized that this career wasn't for me. It happens. I'm now in control and in the process of finding a career path which is more for me that I can put my focus on.

Not seeing patients is actually the major aim. I want to get away from that traditional hospital setting (including the theatre and labs), maybe go into something different while still health related. I loved biostatistics while in school and enjoyed carrying out my final year research project. Would love to do something similar career wise but not restricted to academia.

I decided this during my internship. I consider myself a good doctor based on feedback from patients, colleagues and self evaluation. It's just that having done it in practice I realized that wasn't what I wanted to do for the rest of my working life.

Lol @ my "third world country". I didn't train in the US and have never been there. I'm from a country in Africa.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
