A big contributing factor to it being viewed as “far worse” is the fact that FGM is performed more as a religious or cultural event in under developed nations, meanwhile male circumcision which primarily happens in the west is performed in a safe sterile hospital environment. Of course one is worse when your cutting it off with a rusty knife in a dirty environment as compared to a scalpel in a hospital.

Calling these men creepy isn’t justified though, being creepy is an action, not how you look. If someone isn’t acting creepy they don’t deserved to be called creepy. Much like if someone isn’t acting violent they don’t deserve to be called violent, or if a women isn’t acting like a slut, she doesn’t deserve to be called a slut.

I’m uncircumcised and live in Canada, I immigrated from the UK at 7 where the practice is less prevalent. This makes a lot of sense, I don’t feel a need to be social at work. I’m there to do my job well, not chit chat with coworkers. I see this with my current job (landscaping) compared to my previous job (line cook). with my current job me and 2 other guys just go to the job and start working and as long as we get it done the boss is happy. with my previous job a lot of the women servers would be treated better by the women managers if they where heavily social with them.

Your mental and physical well being comes before everything else, take some time to really focus on positives and block negatives out of your life. You may come across as close minded but refusing to engage, recognize, or view media that makes you have these feelings. The problem with ‘rape culture’ at least to me is that a portion of average stable people would not endorse the act of rape. Convicted rapists are outcast from society and slandered in the media, to say we live in a rape culture would mean society doesn’t treat a rapist this way and I don’t see that.

I’ve been pursuing a career working with children; this has led to people assuming this is for predatory purposes. I feel society assumes when met get into the caring field wether it is children, elderly, or healthcare it is for bad reasons. Also, many feminists claim that the career choices for men are so vast. Anecdotally I believe there is more resources specifically aimed towards woman and woman’s issues. While there are more generally targeted resources that tend to serve men more. In my local city there is many woman specific homeless shelters but none specifically for men.

I’ve seen a lot of anti-men posts on social media and that’s what caused me to seek this place as well. It hurt me to see the woman I grew up with, treated respectfully, and considered my friends to blatantly shit on a whole gender. The thing that doesn’t make sense to me is men hit puberty later than woman. A male aged 14 can not have even started puberty yet while a majority of woman have completed it by this time. So if males are less sexually and hormonally developed why would they be the ones to get charged?

My female family members and friends have told me in the past that men’s only use is reproduction and other than that they hold back society. I feel many females hold this anti-male mindset, while many men recognize the importance of woman. The difference is those aren’t vocalized and they are opinions. Physical punishment is always a no, it takes away from our modern society. People who agree with these archaic medieval punishments have a serious lack of empathy. The whole point of incarceration is rehabilitation so the only solution is to offer counselling and therapy so individuals better understand their actions and how to handle their desires. Unless the rape allegations are proven true in court the defendant who was found innocent should be able to press charges for criminal defamation. No one should be treated as a criminal unless proven beyond a reasonable doubt that they are, and doing so should be criminal defamation.

A great story about the impact of false rape allegations is Shawn Oakman for Baylor university. He was a predicted first round draft pick into the nfl and had his whole life turned upside down when a female student accused him of rape, he was later acquitted of the charges yet he missed out on the millions that could of changed his life and his families for generations to come.
