And unless someone is waiting for the dust to settle so they can shack up with their unicorn and feel like they've won, that's a good thing! I need my 401k, pension, home and savings to be worth something when the time comes. I'm not in it to change the world. Let the world do it's thing so I can do mine.

My grandparents on both sides each had nearly half a dozen kids, bought a house, and (partially) funded college on two below median full time jobs. One pair was a farmer and printer for christ sake. Your grandparents didn't spend $1000/yr on an iPhone or the associated $100/mo line fees. They didn't have a car that could survive a head-on at 50mph, they didn't build a $2k gaming right every few years and buy $60 games every other month. They didn't go out to eat 3-4 times a week. A positive spin…

Is it possible your awareness of these issues has increased over time and with it your negative perception? People's expectations are out of control which prompts a lot of complaining and negativity. If you wanted to live the life your (grand)parents lived, you have a much easier time reaching that goal than people did 50-60 years ago. Personal preference and opinion aside, everything you listed as being in decline has (significantly) improved over the last few decades.

What if there's no wall, no SMV it could all be perception and opinion, no? It could be, but the behaviors that are leading to these conclusions are real. Motivation matters little when the outcome is what affects us.

All of mine are pretty much the same, regardless of destination. Book a flight on a whim because it's cheap, find an AirBnB near places I want to visit and go. No plans, no commitments, no itinerary. Just a stack of papers with museums, bars, restaurants, hikes, sights and other places of interest with directions on how to get there from my AirBnB. Wake up, shuffle through them, pick something and go. Wake up and don't feel like traveling? bum around town and watch people, eat, drink and go back…

Heh, remind me in a year. I'm always up for having a beer. Unlikely I'll be in Tokyo for more than a day or 2 if I end up going back to Japan. Osaka/Kansai is where it's at. One thing you can do to get familiar/more comfortable with Tokyo is look at meetup or couch surfing and book your trip when you know there's a CS or MU gathering in one of the first few days you're there. Great way to meet some locals, expats and fellow toursists. Many of them will be very willing and able to share info on w…

I can honestly say I've never pursued girls/women or relationships. Circumstances had me end up with girlfriends anyway. Usually friends of friends I met by chance or girls who hung with/around the same crowd I did. One of them became my fiancee and eventually my wife. I guess it was similar to what you're saying about 'doing what you're supposed to' although I wasn't reluctantly following along with something I didn't agree with. It felt good/normal at the time. It never felt like I was require…

Travel in the shoulder season or off season. October - March and save yourself a significant amount of money. If you're dates are flexible, us an app like skyscanner or hopper and book when you see a price you can live with. Also consider a roadtrip to a major airport (LAX, DFW, ORD, JFK, etc.) and use off site parking. You can save 50% of your ticket price in some cases vs. using whatever the nearest airport might be. AirBnB in Japan is amazing. Cheap, clean communications are great and most ha…

Or is it alcoholics asking someone to clear their house from booze when they visit because they can't control themselves? I really don't care if there's women here or not. Some prompt fairly decent discussion, others are easily ignored.

My inclination to respond isn't not so much that a woman is asking questions as it is that someone not engaged in going their own way showing some curiosity/interest. If the question was asked in MGTOW1, which is filled with hostility and negativity, I'd have assumed it a troll and moved on. The general attitude and sentiment in this sub lends itself well for someone genuinely curious to pose a question without anticipating being met with hate and vitriol. With that in mind I'll give people aski…

If you sit behind your computer because you want to spend time behind your computer, don't worry about it. If you sit behind your computer while wishing you could/would be doing something else, go do that something else. It really is that simple. You did't offend me, your choice of words made me question your motives here. // I dont think you are scared. You dont want to be with women becausw you have been fucked over// Close. I don't want to be in a relationship because there is/was nothing so amazing that makes being fucked over worth it. Not even the good times, which were good. If you think we're scared and can't handle the compromises necessary to be in a relationship, you're either way of base or I misjudged your intentions here. My question was more along the lines of what, in your eyes, does a relationship/woman bring to the table to warrant said risks and compromises. My position is that most women/relationships don't bring enough to the table to warrant the compromises and risks. It's a logical conclusion and choice, not an emotional reaction based on fear. Like I said, I believe you're sincere. With everything you've seen (and no doubt have read ), what can/would you say to a man to convince him that a relationship is worth the risk? Not a relationship with you or like minded women, but a relationship in general. We haven't even touched on how someone's day to day life and priorities change when in a relationship.

Anyways, does this movement really believe that women are biologically programmed to make mens lives shit? Nature or nurture, it matters little. My experience and belief is that women/relationships don't add nearly as much as they detract from a man's life. It sounds like you're in a good relationship and things are going well, good for you. I hope it doesn't change. Play th…

The hostility might have been what prompted it, but I am enjoying life to much to ever consider going back. Even without the hostility I feel I would be settling if I ever put myself in a position to have to adjust my plans/day/week/life to someone else. I doubt, nor do I expect, anyone else would want to adjust to me completely and permanently. Nope, this bell can not be unrung.

Women not wanting to get married is a sign of liberation. Men not wanting to get married is "commitment phobia". Stated or implied, that sentiment is as close to as an acknowledgment of the different expectations marriage has for a woman vs. a man you can expect to get from the mainstream media. Consider those differences and it makes perfect sense to walk away with a different opinion about women deliberately staying single than about men not wanting to get married.

Prostitution and marriage are similar to a job and a career. One pays the bills, the other sets you up for life.

Yes, it does. However, it matters little to most people who or what they obey as long as they get a sense of belonging in return. We determine, perpetuate or detract from what the peer and societal pressures for those around us are and as a result are at the very least partially responsible for the outcome.
/r/MGTOW202/08/19 07:11 PM

Except that when it comes to people making decisions due to peer or societal pressures, it's you and I that are responsible for the outcome, not some distant bad guy or the president.

My approach has been to share my experience, the experiences of friends (people they know) and the outcome of marriages that fail in general and how to best protect themselves. Financially and mentally. I have a hard time looking my son, or any young man who's yet to have had a meaningful relationship, in the eye and convince them they should die never having had a relationship. a housewife admiring a career woman, for example, is actually only admiring her own imagination or fantasy about what it must be like. I doubt such fantasies involve things like stress, long hours, loneliness, etc. [edit: and evidence of more alcoholism and depression]. If it was just discontent house wife's fooling themselves that would be one thing. This is one of the common things I disagree with the MGTOWs. If these women never lived the life of a housewife, how do they know it is good? People always want things they don't have but others have, without realizing that what they had is already decent. This is my general thought when I see young(er) men asking for advice or guidance regarding MGTOW. IMO the best part of being rich isn't much different from not having any debt and living within your means. Once you are able to wrap your head around the idea that being single is OK, everything else becomes easier. Being single in and of itself is easy, coming to terms with the idea that there's nothing wrong with it, your preference towards being single or yourself can take a little bit longer. Instead of 'choosing to stay single' because women, rework your mindset to 'enjoying being single' for yourself. Yea, same for me. MGTOW isn't a disdain towards women for me. It's my experience, observations and eventual acceptance that there are ridiculously few women out there, if any at all, that would add more value to my life than they, or a relationships with all it's compromises, would take away from it.

What I see as being 'out there' is being open to the idea that if you bump into someone that absolutely piques your interest while doing your own thing you'd be open to the idea of a relationship forming organically. I'm not opposed to that idea but do see the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. I don't think there's anyone out there that would be willing or able to put up the the shit it would take for me to abandon my current way of life. What people generally mean when they say 'p…

Guys are more interested in validating their own choice of being in a relationship when they say this than they are looking out for your best interest. You see the same with people who shell out tens of thousands of dollars for college yet make well under what (in my eyes) would be a reasonable salary to justify the up front cost. They can't fathom the idea they made a mistake, therefor you are making a mistake by not engaging in the same behavior.

I usually turn it around and put people who want to challenge my way of life in the position where they end up having to sell me on the idea that a relationship would somehow add to my life. The conversations usually die shortly after that. Salespeople pull the same shit. They like to put you in a position where they want you to feel you have to justify turning down extended warranty or that stupid $500 blinking 3rd brake light. Just take it off the car, I don't owe you an explanation.

I value my personal autonomy above all else. That becomes increasingly difficult as soon as you introduce relationships into the mix. My daughter asked me yesterday how come I went from disliking yard work to enjoying it. After giving it some thought I replied that it feels much better taking care of things I need or want to do vs. things I have to do. Even if the task is one and the same. DGTOW as well, zero interest/need for a sub like that. I cringe when I hear or read about how difficult single mothers say they have it. It's no different for guys. It took me roughly 2 weeks to balance my schedule and finances going from married w/ kid(s) to single dad. Maybe it's because I've been MGTOW for so long but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that there are people who are unable to enjoy their own company. Tax savings ... spend a dollar to save a dime? You'd let society determine how you live your life? IMO the divorce rate is a result of people trying to live up to someone else's (society?) expectations only to find out down the road that they don't get any enjoyment/fulfillment out of it. It's a deliberate choice knowing what the side effects of having kids are though. Looking back on my life I probably wouldn't do anything different either. By definition, selfishness doesn't apply when you go your own way since no other people are involved.
