I suspect using LLMs as a way to analyze surveys, and the ability to design essay-style survey response research is still in its early development and has not become very widespread among this type of sociology research.

"Please take our survey that washes away any opportunity for you to leave nuance on a very nuanced topic, then, we can later call you a misogynistic pig!"

Everyone thank Democrat Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) for sponsoring this bill! We can always count on democrats to have the best priorities in mind while our government is being dismantled by an authoritarian. Automatic voter registration for eligible voters? Hell no! A bill to make the draft gender neutral? Absolutely not. A bill to abolish the draft outright? No way! A bill to make the draft registration automatic for young men! Absolutely, this is a top priority for the moment. Democrats are a cen…

One thing that I would like to add speaking from experience of a young man who recently was in the public education system, is that teachers very much stigmatize young boys simply for their gender. Allow me to explain. I districtly remember growing up, as a young buy who cared deeply about learning and about my grades, the agony I would have as I started a new school year. This agony was based mostly in the fact that I knew that I would have a new teacher who would see me just as "another boy" a…

His advocacy for redshirting boys in school is especially dangerous and hinges on flawed thinking. He explicitly states that boys are emotionally and mentally inferior to girls of the same age. As such, he says we should redshirt them. In the US we have tried redshirting for black children before in schools and it resulted in worse academic performance from them because they were raised in a system that taught them they were inferior.

I think you are wrong. I am a gay man and I absolutely understand the loneliness straight men feel. You don't think it is lonely growing up gay? When you are young it seems like everyone in highschool or college gets to date and experience young love. Meanwhile a gay man like myself is ostracized, othered and doesn't know a single person like themselves. Dating or any connection is completely off the table with romantic interests. As a gay man, your dating pool is so significantly smaller than e…

I think the way to convince people to vote for you is to offer them something to vote FOR, rather than shame them for your assumption of sexism.

Fair enough. Good point. Talking down to men during the Harris campaign definitely didn't help keep an image of him as a men/boys advocate in my head.

Barack Obama does nothing but talk down to men, preach to them about "not being sexist", as if sexism is a preset in male biology, and then ignore any of the systemic issues that disproportionately affect men. The more I hear from the Obamas the less I want to listen to them. Their campaign speeches for the Harris campaign were some of the most tone deaf words I have ever heard, and I'm saying that as a Harris voter.

Newsom vetoed a bill in California that would've created thousands of NSA housing for homeless people. As we all know, homelessness is a huge issue that overwhelming affects men. I think Newsom is doing this just for the good PR, but isn't actually dedicated. I'll be happily proven wrong If I see differently.

You are flat out wrong. There are no differences in the sexes in combat positions. The introduction of technologies that lessen hand to hand combat make the physical distinctions between men and women even LESS of a justification for a sexist draft system.

Me having 2x the upper body strength doesn't justify me being drafted as cannon fodder for wars while women get let off the hook. There is a difference in CHOOSING to be a protector and being INSTITUTIONALLY FORCED to be a protector. I think it's fine if men, or women, choose to be a protector of people they love. I have a problem when gender roles require that the state enforce people to give up their life because their lives are seen as less valuable due to an intrinsic characteristic that peo…

I'm not really a fan of the "positive masculinity" either. Having to assign 'positive" as an adjective before a word also insinuates that it's naturally not positive. Furthermore, I find that often the people peddling the "positive masculinity" narrative just want to tell boys what to do and who to be. They want to be the ones to define what it means to be a boy/man, rather than listening to what boys/men want to be. They'll use this definition of "positive masculinity" to force boys/men into tr…

How can you expect anyone to take this group seriously when you do nothing but strawman other people's arguments? Nowhere in my reply did I say it excused the behavior, you put those words in my mouth. Instead of actually reading what I said, you decided to be reactionary because I challenged one sentence in the comment above. If you aren't interested in meaningful and nuanced discussion leave the group and grow up.

I don't think its true that gay men have carte blanche to do anything in public. If anything gay men are more policed than straight couples. Speaking as a gay man I often feel uncomfortable expressing any affection with my partner when in public, even if it's simple stuff like hand holding. Nobody looks twice when a straight couple is affectionate, but people accuse gay men of being predators or grooming children. Gay men are not seen as normal when they are together in public. The difference in…

"I did an extremely targeted search to find exactly one example just to prove you wrong. Here is my one example, and it's not even a good one since I can't find info on his sexuality". "I did extensive "research" and yeah, you're wrong. Queer women are the true writers of gay male storyline and can authentically protect the gay male experience". Respectfully, go sit down at this point. Rather than read my comment and understand what I am trying to express with my frustrations finding gay male fi…

Yeah, that's certainly part of it. I think it's unrealistic to pigeonhole gay men into the framework of a hetero couple. I also think it is very tokenizing of gay men and they often push characters into stereotypes. It's the same reason I think the "gay best friend" is irritating. For the most part it's that the characters are written basically as straight women in a man's body, which I don't really identify with. As a gay man, my relationships are two men, that's kind of the point. I don't iden…

I don't think there are many gay male writers either. As a gay man myself, I specifically seek out gay storylines. Unfortunately most gay fiction is written by straight women who portray hetero relationship dynamics and tropes onto gay characters. For them it's an avenue to experience romance stories without the "objectification" of the characters being female. These books are overwhelmingly written by straight women, for straight women. Not only does it mean that I don't often succeed in findin…

As a male victim of sexual assault at the hands of a woman when I was only 12 years old, I would also like to see support for male victims of female sexual assault. The worst part of my experience is that when I told the two female guidance counselors at my school they laughed in my face and told me "what are we supposed to do about it?"

I, for one, want the same legal protections for baby boys and young men against MGM that women have against FGM. There are so many political policies that need to happen in addition to social and cultural change. I want an end to needlessly gendered laws. No gendered rape laws, representative proportions of support systems for male victims of DV and homelessness. I want policies establishing 50/50 custody as a baseline. So much more.

There are no communist political candidates or major parties in this election. You are mistaken and you are showing that you have no real understanding of what communism is. Stop listening to radical conservatives on fox news who use communism as a Boogeyman.

I'm a gay man and also a men's rights advocate. How dare you treat gay men as if they are just lap dogs for straight women. With that said, I will absolutely not be voting for Trump because I recognize the ways in which conservatism and their benevolent sexism against men is damaging. I wish more people in this sub would acknowledge this and call out conservatives on their sexism.

Do you think having to go to court is an accessible and free way to get something which should be readily available? It's hoops to jump through for no reason.

Yeah, I really only know about France. I said Germany off the top of my head. Although, I will say having paternity rights and paternity tests so entwined with bureaucracy feels an awful lot like paternity tests aren't free and accessible as they should be. With bureaucracy you are now subjected to the people working within the bureaucracy, which can all for many biases.

France and Germany have both banned paternity tests iirc. France's ban has been in place for about 30 years and just last year the parliament voted to uphold the law that bans them. They have no interest in defending reproductive rights or autonomy for men.

You fail to acknowledge that nowhere has equal paternity leave as mothers do, not even close. In countries which "share" parental leave between the parents, the leave is even less equal. How can we complain about fathers not taking equal responsibility in the home and not give them the tools to do so? Not to mention discriminatory custody laws. Personally, I think fathers DESERVE to be included in the home, because it's their kids and family too. I don't like how we turned the narrative into "wo…

I think most of these men ask to have scenes like that. They work pretty hard to maintain physiques those insane physiques, so they ask directors for shirtless scenes. I remember reading about how Chris Evans asked for his shirts to rip off in certain scenes, because he worked hard for the physique. It got pretty comical and unrealistic in some instances.

Part of the problem with men continuing the cycle is that they would have to do serious moral, ethical, and mental work to realize that their very own parents took away their rights of consent and bodily harm when they decided to mutilate them for aesthetic and cultural homogeneity. Those who are circumcised and are against the practice at birth recognize that their parents made a wrong choice, which is not necessarily easy for many people to do. You'd have to acknowledge yourself as a victim.

I also just wanted to say that as a fellow gay guy, I completely understand what you're going through. I don't fit in with women because they view me as a man, or only accept me if I'm extra feminine. Yet, straight men still wont be close with me because they worry I'll grow feelings or they perceive me as too feminine. You just can't winnand it sucks. Being gay is one of the most socially isolating things that a person can be. It not only reduces your romantic opportinities but also your platon…

There are still 64 countries that criminalize homosexuality and 11 of which who still have the death penalty for homosexuality. In almost all of these countries only male on male homosexuality is criminalized and actually have those laws enforced. Furthermore, even among countries which legalize homosexuality and have better social rights for homosexual couples, public opinions of gay men are significantly lower than public opinions of gay women. Additionally, Bi men often experience much more b…
