Are you an ommiscient god who can automatically tell the difference between an actual case of rape and a false allegation? For everyone else, it's impossible to tell without more info. I understand people here are pro-accused, i get it: but it seems that the people here always assume an accuser is lying, which isn't any better than assuming they're always telling the truth. P.S. Came here to start a discussion, but apparently this sub doesn't care for different opinions. Fine by me, keep up y'al…

Honesty doesn't apply? It's very hard to give a false report without lying (excluding things like victim accidently misidentifying perp).

I said there was "some capacity" for an honest mistake. The article was vague and didn't really say much either way. There are ways she could have pursued a report without lying, and based on OP, we still don't know for sure. P.S. Even the post i made saying she should get a SAFE kit was downvoted, so yeah objectivity isn't a thing in this thread

Lol, getting downvoted for promoting honest reporting of potential rapes. 100% for charging people who file false reports. I realize false reporting is an issue, but so is potential sexual assault. It's a two-sided issue.

What about what i said made you think that? Lying in a report should be illegal, i agree. If they don't remember everything but report it honestly and ask for a SAFE kit to see if they were raped, i'm fine with that. Being pro-victim and pro-accused are not mutually exclusive.

If she named somebody, that would be lying. Article doesn't say if she named somebody in the report. If it's honest reporting, i'd hope they report what they know even if they don't remember everything.

I feel there's at least some capacity this was an honst mistake, and she likely didn't remember the events before she fell asleep. If it was malicious i have no problem with pressing charges; if she actually thought a rape took place, charging could discourage real survivors from reporting their stories.

I'm not sure how the law works, but they may not be able charge 1st degree murder on somebody who didn't do the deed themselves. 14 years isn't exactly light, but perhaps she should have gotten more time for her involvement in this.

I don't believe in statute of limitations for a lot of things (especially perjury when the false allegations land the defendant in prison), but i doubt there will be much evidence or clear and convincing testimony in this case.

I don't think OP is morally justifying, just stating hypocrisy. Trump never pretends to be against body-shaming, so his remarks (while oftentimes blunt and derisive) are not hypocritical.
