1	i think this belongs here...did i do the thing?? Typically yes, however that isn't the only option. We keep our money separate and just split on anything shared. Also prevents the age old "he/she spends all our money" bs that can happen. As well as if one of you are a bit worse at impulse control then it prevents excessive spending of funds you didn't earn.
