And it helps people align how the identify with how they portray themselves. Speaking from my own experience, the biggest issue is that I can't portray myself outwardly as how I feel within myself. That disparagement causes me a lot of anguish...the obvious and best solution is to align the two. The context of why lawyers exist is exactly why you can't just be so black and white with morality. Also you said the argument was that lawyers help get reduced sentences and are therefore evil, only defense attorneys do that, hence the assumption that he's talking about defense attorneys. If guilt is proven, then obviously the prosecution will push for the maximum sentence, so you need some sort of balancing to happen..i.e. the defense attorney to push for minimum.
