If by "in kind" you mean similarly excessive and inappropriate physical violence then yes, it is the wrong answer.

The local law being wrong is no justification for the media misrepresenting what happened in order to minimize the nature of the offense just because the perpetrator was a female.

I think the message is good but there is tremendous push-back to some other messages to women suggesting they change their behaviour in order to reduce their risk of being assaulted, so I wonder if this one would be any better received or simply rejected because "women shouldn't have to change their behaviour because men behave badly" - "don't blame the victim". And I wonder how the advice could be presented to minimize the push-back. I think everyone should be told not to commit assault, either…

While "don't commit violence" seems a good message / lesson for anyone and everyone, in the case of women and intimate partner violence, "don't blame the victim comes to mind". I see many reports that in cases of domestic violence, there is a presumption by the police that the female is the victim and the male is the perpetrator, regardless of initial findings and circumstances. Presumably many people concur on this, or the police policies would be changed. On the other hand, I believe that viol…

Humanist is probably much less emotionally and politically fraught than feminist is these days, and at least has the merit that the term itself isn't inherently gendered. Humanism , by the books at least, promotes many ideas I agree with, without too much reference to gender. But people have a way of complicating anything, and language in particular. I was interested to see in other responses, the questions and answers about equity Vs equality, for example. The potential for misunderstanding, wi…

You have suffered a lot of criticism in response to your post. Yet, aside from identifying as a feminist, which I suspect is well intentioned but perhaps a little misguided or naive, most of what you have said in post and comments seems reasonable and supportive. It's nice to see you're still engaged despite the harsh responses. Try not to get caught up in the hate. It's a problem that needs a solution, but sometimes, at least in the short term, it is best to walk away. I used to read some of th…

Support is good. I think you are correct, that men also have it tough. There are many problems in society affecting men and women and some of these are specific to men. Support for recognizing and solving any of these problems is helpful. Arguments about what the term 'feminist' means or what people who identify themselves as feminists do or don't believe in, really aren't relevant to identifying or solving these problems. In the context of this subreddit, it would be better to focus on specific…

I wrote to the editors at meawwworld, to let them know I didn't appreciate their sexist misrepresentation of the crime. They won't change if they don't get feedback when they write inappropriately.

The video makes the case that there is discrimination on the basis of sex in the provision of services to victims of domestic violence in the UK, to the detriment of men, for whom the services available are problematic or absent. One of the criticism of services for men is the assumption that men are likely to be perpetrators rather than victims of domestic violence. It contrasts the services actually available with the public statements of government officials which clearly state, while comment…

How is it "regressive" that men find the emotional support and companionship they desire?

Where are marriages and divorces at 50 year high and low respectively? Marriage rates in most countries are falling. Divorce rates per capita are falling but that's not surprising given there are fewer marriages. The percentage of marriages that end in divorce is falling recently, in many countries. You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
