That's helpful but I don't think they're something we can escape. Identity formation is such that, even if one idealizes a certain ethos of conduct or way of perceiving the world, they're stilled mired in the "old" way of looking at things. It's my view that we should eliminate our pretenses of some egalitarian or just society and admit the truth -- that our innate sensibilities cannot be overcome.

I mean if someone accepts that society oppressed them in forming their understanding of gender, why should they trust some organized social movement to "liberate" them? Personally I'd want to GTFO and become a cynic.

Well I and many people don't feel oppressed by their own identity. It doesn't need reformed or addressed really. If anything I'd want less social conditioning, not more. If one believes that gender identity is oppression by society, what kind of social movement should, or would they trust to dismantle the problem?

Gender identity is toxic because it's formed for people in an oppressive way therefore we must deconstruct it. Same implications and conclusions, only it's "toxicity" is merely so because it's "given." That was Butler's main focus.

This seems antithetical to much of the conventional wisdom on this subreddit; the reciprocity that is advocated here is unilateral by design, and as such, is not "reciprocal" in a true sense. Though if it isn't readily apparent to anyone, this goes both ways. "Hamsters" or no.

Social anxiety, like yourself. Your brain has receptors that receive the neurotransmitter "gamma-Aminobutyric acid" which regulates "excitatory" effects of the nervous system. Benzos regulate the efficiency of the GABA receptors so that they aren't so easily affected causing your anxiety to decline. It's somewhat similar in alcohol. The problem is that, over time, it kind of "burns" them out causing rebound anxiety.

Yeah, all benzo addictions start like that. Watch for any rebound anxiety caused by diminished GABA activity. I've been clean for only 1 month now and I want to stop using them entirely.
