I think it is pretty hard to argue that he was simply walking the same way. The video makes it seem like he was purposefully walking next to her.

Good point I guess it doesn't really help the situation. With such a clear yes no type thing it might cut down on the number of people willing to straight up lie though.

If we get to the point where it is socially acceptable to ask before every encounter it'll help make things a lot more black and white. As in did she/he say yes? She did okay great its not sexual assault. I think this bill could help push that mentality into the public. Although I have a feeling it won't go as smoothly as I made it sound.

That's what happened here I believe. The guy provided alibis and proof that he wasn't in the location to have raped her. On top of that she confessed to it being false. That to me ( and the court) was enough evidence to prove she was lying. Which is why jail time seems fit.
