Let me rephrase, it's a bad idea to completely reject the idea that the person on trial could possibly be guilty. I'm not asking you to automatically assume he's guilty. I'm saying that you should be aware of the possibility that he very well might be. Assuming guilt is dangerous, yes, but so is being biased in the opposite direction to the point where you're willing to discount evidence that goes against your convictions.
