| 0 | 19-year old guy has sex with 16-year old girlfriend. Girl's father drags him to court for kidnapping and rape. Girl says the sex was consensual. Boy gets three years for rape.I agree with Fishwish I feel like teen sex issues are best dealt with by the parents and the teens themselves. If a teen couple willingly have sex with each other they are harming no one. We live in an age where all manner of birth control is available and failing that there are other options if having a child is out of the question. So, no one is harmed by their actions. No one is even involved but the teens themselves. If their parents feel like what they did was wrong, then as their parents t… | /r/MensRights | 01/02/11 04:53 PM |

Boy gets three years for rape. It's certainly a complex issue to try and deal with in the black and white of legality. I guess that's why so many different places have so many different laws in regard to this issue. I just feel like as long as there are situations like this, where someone is being treated harsher by the system than they should be (or in other cases not harshly enough) there is always room for reforms and improvements to the system. In truth no system is perfect, but isn't it a sad day when we stop trying to m… | /r/MensRights | 01/02/11 04:11 PM |

Boy gets three years for rape.I understand that the term is "statutory rape". Also I understand that the boy involved is probably aware of how little that will mean for him later in life labeled as a rapist. I agree that there is a difference in consent. But I also think it makes a difference if the man is 45 or 19. The boy was only one year over 18 himself. The difference is his badly informed and unwise consent took three years of his life away and labeled him a deviant and menace to society. | /r/MensRights | 01/02/11 03:08 PM |

Boy gets three years for rape.I totally read the title as "19-year old guy has sex with 16-year old girlfriend. Girl's father drags him to court for kidnapping and rape. Girl says the sex was consensual. Boy gets three years of rape." | /r/MensRights | 01/02/11 02:16 PM |

So you think that it's a good idea to use the same terminology for a situation like this, where a couple with a three year age difference had sex and only one of them was above the age of 18, and also for when a person is hauled into an alley at gunpoint and forced to have sex with a stranger. You think those are even remotely morally equivalent? Hint, only one of these situations involves someone making the despicable decision to purposefully harm another human being for their own gain.
