She literally assaulted a taxi driver. Why would her employer want a violent person working for them? I see your point to an extent, but this lady was physically violent, and threatened a guy’s life (“people are coming if you don’t drive me”). She didn’t even seem intoxicated, just entitled. The natural reaction of anybody seeing that video would be to want to end all association with her.

Correlation doesn’t equal causation. Just because the suicide rates are high there and they are tolerant of LGBTQ people doesn’t mean that those things are related, which is why I was pointing out that the anecdote isn’t useful for understanding the topic at hand. My prior point was that discrimination leads to stress which causes mental illness, and it seemed like your counter point was that mental illness is still high in a tolerant place like Amsterdam, thus discrimination isn’t the factor cr…

I mean no offense, but without more data that anecdote isn’t very useful for understanding why LGBTQ people suffer from higher rates of suicide. The increased suicide rate in Amsterdam seems to primarily affect teenagers and women, and has finally started to decline this year. I was not able to find an article that suggested a cause for these high rates, nor an article that suggested that suicide rates were particularly higher among the gay/trans population of Amsterdam.

WHO seems to believe that the mental issues which can arise along with transgenderism are a result of the stress and stigma surrounding gender incongruence rather than a byproduct of transgenderism itself. Though I’m not a doctor, that does make some sense to me. Suicide rates have been higher amongst other minority groups who have been discriminated against, and the conclusion from the linked study is that the more perceived discrimination a person experiences, the more likely they are to devel…

This is actually pretty interesting. Gender incongruence was removed from the mental illness section of International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems and reclassified under sexual health earlier this year due to stigma created by the assumption that transgender people are ill. WHO voted and agreed that transgenderism is not a mental illness.

Yeah, but bare minimum most banks ask for some sort of proof of assets before approving a loan. It’s a very odd case, indeed.

She sort of proved the opposite of what she set out to prove.

People want to help victims, but do not know how. The times I have had the worst mental health are the times I have been enabled and pitied by others who did not have any expectations of me because they were too busy feeling sorry for me. We have to find a way to create room for recovery while still encouraging people to take care of themselves. Holding the weight of the world for a victim will only make their muscles weaker in the long run.

To be fair, prisons often have very strict rules about what can be sent to prisoners, and items like that would most likely be thrown out because they have to be sanitary and couldn’t be opened to be inspected by a prison guard. By providing them internally, the prison is not only doing its job, but also ensuring that contraband hasn’t been snuck in. I know people on this sub have a particular agenda, and I don’t argue with that one way or another, but if you’re going to make a point, you might …
