She probably just filed bankruptcy and blamed you for it.

She'll get hit with reality when CS ends. It does suck. No way around it.
/r/Divorce_Men08/09/23 10:53 PM

That hurts but CS is understandable. It's the price of freedom.
/r/Divorce_Men08/09/23 10:51 PM

That's just CS though not spousal support right? All those discussions are null and void I would think.

Why is she entitled to calculations using your new pay? She bailed during the old pay.

Stop thinking with the wrong head and you'll steer clear of most of the nut jobs. Commit to no more marriage or entanglement of assets. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound or hundreds of thousands of dollars of cure.

Doesn't the answer change over time? When I was young and broke I had nothing to lose. We built a life and became financially secure as she also worked most of the time. A few decades later and I'm in a much different situation. I've been through the married life and I've got assets. I have nothing to gain except risk and that's something I neither need or want.

That's a wholly pathetic view of life.

That's why you don't give cheaters a second chance. Ever.

I don't understand the commitment to never tell the kids why. Once they are of age they deserve to know the truth. Why protect the ex with lies indefinitely?

Sorry you're going through it. Grey rock is the only way to approach it sometimes.

Don't engage with emotions. Stone face. They are now a business adversary.

Agree with the others. She's already moved on to someone else.

Dating and marrying are very different things so why not. Knowing that marriage isn't on the table you can have some fun.
/r/Divorce_Men06/08/23 04:42 AM

You could have stopped at "Would you marry again?" Unless the second half of that sentence is " if she's a rich supermodel?" The answer is no or NO!

What are you hoping to hear? She's tired of the lies and bullshit but you kept going. You're right about one thing: it appears to be your fault.

Divorce was the norm in parents generation. There have been no siblings and cousins that have divorced in my generation (we're in our 40s and 50s). Only one of my high school buddies that I'm still close with has divorced. I have no idea if they are actually happy in their relationships and I know some of them aren't. The kids are mostly out of or nearly out of highschool. We'll see what happens.

Do not do this until the divorce is final. The last thing you want is her to be unemployed when it's time for spousal support calculations.

I'd much rather never hear from them again.

Assign a fair market value to her living situation and compare it to her additional healthcare costs. Document it all.
/r/Divorce_Men20/07/23 12:08 AM

She's living under your roof for free so she can cover the health care. She still comes out way ahead.

New date of separation is the date you last banged. Screwed her and screwed yourself at the same time.

Divorce is so much more then a financial transaction.

Wiping the slate clean is invaluable. Lost equity is the price you pay to sever all ties. Who wants to deal with the ex years for years, decades, or forever. You can invest the money you're not paying in alimony.

Why would you want her back? Grey rock the shit out of it.

Does she think she's getting screwed?

She's upset because she lost control of the process when you brought in a lawyer. There's also more to the story. She's got some reason for wanting the divorce.

No problem with it. When you walk give her the exact same logic she gave you.

Your holding pattern is an illusion. She wants nothing to do with you. Snap out of it and man the fuck up.

Hell fucking no. Would never consider it. I don't hate myself that much.

Some people's bar for abuse is staggeringly low. Any disagreement becomes abuse when telling their tales.

Once they say we're divorcing you're free to do as you please. You no longer have any romantic obligations to her.

I've never cared whose dong my exes were inhaling. If my friends wanted to rail them, have at it. I don't care not even a little.

I fail to see why the institution of marriage is the problem here. Let's talk about the people and all the red flags that got ignored.

Give her a big hug for getting rid of that kid and helping you permanently detach from her. Good riddance.

Do a list of pros and cons. One side will be much longer and more impactful then the other.

Judges must be skeptical of these claims because they see them so frequently and they are so often proven untrue.

WTF? I've heard it all now. Letting the ex's fuck buddy stay with you. Unbelievable.

Lawyer up. Don't let the ex make unilateral decisions about the kids. Go after custody.

Exactly. She needs to take care of her own shite.
