Fiscal issues are fundamentally different from social issues. That being said... "Waste of money" is subjective. I think it's a waste of money for government to pay out welfare for low socioeconomic status mothers who have 3-5 children that they can't afford. People with lower education levels tend to have more children than those who are educated. The government ends up footing the bill, This cost far dwarfs a one time cost of an abortion.
