Maybe you think you have the ability to manipulate, when in reality they are only going with your lies to avoid embarrassing you. Don't rely on lies to make you look better, especially to just a bunch of teenaged friends.

What's there to construct? The bigger deal you make out of it, the less they'll believe you. Lies are better when they're some offhand aloof comment. My advice is to not bother lying anyway. If your friends judge you for being a 19 year old virgin then they're weird, and if you want to look cool in front of them or something, hitting up some random chick in a bar won't look that good anyway.

I mean, in a household full of women it makes more sense for down to be the default position, as the up position would be the least used. And of course they'll demand it; that's what happens to kids when they simply refuse to do something for god knows what.
