I like the response the other guy gave here. Working on yourself, the social skills is probably first. Not only will it be more applicable for you moving forward, but it'll help your confidence too. To go off on his post, talk to everyone. Like if you get coffee or food, talk to the cashier. Small talk is good, learn to read reactions. And slowly overtime, things will just click better. At which point, when you find that one girl you wanna approach, you'll have all this experience behind you.

Honestly. If we being super honest. The mask is way better for me, cause I am not the most attractive dude to look at. It def helps on my end. But I mean of course, we are in a pandemic. So virtual dates are the way to go, if I can ever find a date! :D

Oh how I wish that would happen for me. I'm the last single guy in my friend group haha.

Not a pedestal thing, but I feel like I subconsciously do it in all settings where I'm around people I feel of a higher standard. bosses, adults (older than me), strangers. But yes, I feel like I try to censor myself by not cursing or telling vulgar jokes. Which I would like to think is part of my appeal, without it. I feel boring honestly.

I know this subreddit is about confidence and getting better. But it's so hard for me to get past my low self esteem, either I feel like I'm bothering them or I talk myself out of doing it, because I feel I'm not attractive enough. Like I feel like if I don't know the person well enough, I won't even make that leap or take a chance to even try and talk to someone.

Definitely. I think because they are shy, it's harder for them to interact with others. So if you are interested, be approachable. Think of it on the other side, if you're someone that seems hard to approach or not fun to converse with. No one is gonna want to take that chance. But if you make yourself approachable it'll help in the long run with them. The other thing is, you could always try and talk to them. Because they could be interested, but won't make a move due to being shy. If you open …

Thanks. I mean I realize it, but it's still very hard. I think it just stems from my pessimistic outlook on life. But yes, you're right. There's more to life than just talking to a girl.

True. But sometimes it's nice to talk to someone else about it. Because I feel like if I try to talk to myself about it. I'll only think of the worse

Yeah for sure. I mean she's not on my top priority that I'm giving to. But it's not like I've completely moved on. And I get that. But she does make me happy. Like talking to her is one of those things where it's worth the risk or this heartache. And I'm trying. But it's tough

Yup. But I won't lie, it's hard. Sometimes I just overthink when I have free time. And so I'll think both sides both good and bad sadly.

I swear I'm trying. But I feel like it's easier said than done. This girl told me that she was talking to someone else. And that shattered me, now of course I still want to talk with her regardless. But it's still awkward in some sense no matter how much I wanna be open about it

I love this. I'm kinda going through this right now. And I won't lie, it hurts. I've just spent the past few days overthinking things, but for me. At the end of the day I'm glad I asked. Like the rejection at the moment sucked. It was awkward as all hell. But it felt empowering. The biggest thing for me to takeaway was that, maybe it's just not the right time. That maybe we just weren't compatible.

I think it's hard to say. In my own experience as an Average ( maybe slightly below) dude. I always see people smile everywhere. From store cashier's to people just being friendly. It's super hard to discern whether someone smiling at me is an invitation to chat or them being friendly. And maybe it's just me, but in the past I've attempted to talk to people based off the second one. Just to get that brutal realization that people are just being nice, not looking for anything else. But I'd say it…
