What do I want from dating? Maybe sex, but I think positive reinforcement more.Once, on one of our vacations, I was carrying a duffle bag over each shoulder and a suitcase in each hand up a flight of stairs in a bed and breakfast. As I'm ascending the stairs, a woman was at the top and stepped aside for me to make my way up. As I passed, she said to me, “You’re a strong man.” It hadn't occurred to me that this was something a woman looked at with any sort of admiration. It was just something I did, something that many men likely do. We carry the heavy shit. But that one si… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/26 03:35 AM

I think I get it: she will never admit it.It's not the wrong adjective. You do have to fight. Only you're fighting your own ego most of the time. You have to be willing, over and over, to consider you might play a part in the wreckage. In most cases, we all do. It's not fighting to stay in love, which is where people tend to get lost. It's fighting to control your own ego, get some therapy, and take some accountability. It's easier to allow love when you don't have a need to be right all of the time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/04/26 02:45 AM
Social media has destroyed everything in this worldIncel, by definition, implies entitlement to sex. Many men being divorced are not involuntarily celibate. Most of us are reacting to divorce pain and loss of identity, not arguing that we’re owed sex. I'm not saying every opinion here is healthy, but I also don't believe collapsing all bitterness into “incel” is productive. Sometimes people are just poorly expressing hurt. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/02/26 01:25 PM
Social media has destroyed everything in this worldI get what you're saying. I just don't think “incels” is accurate. And I think it feels too good to have a derogatory name for a group of people. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/02/26 02:25 AM
Social media has destroyed everything in this worldMan, it's just so true. I often want to comment about how toxic it is over there, but what's the point? | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/02/26 03:14 AM
If you're fresh out of a bad marriage where she was emotionally abusive, you need to read Psychopath FreeWow, the similarities are scary. But, hopefully, better times are ahead waiting for us. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/12/25 04:43 PM

Wife started calling me "weak" and talking about divorce after I had a rough couple of days this weekI wish this wasn't true. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/12/25 12:57 AM
“If he wanted to he would”, “bare minimum”, “girl’s girl”, etc. Red flags or simply internet memes? My ex started using “now” and “anymore” in every disagreement. Like, “I know what you're doing now,” or “You don't fool me anymore.” I still wonder what type of toxic crap was she consuming to be convinced that she, who was never wrong or ever apologized, was suddenly a victim of my influence. The only “now” and “anymore” that would have made sense for her was, “NOW I've found a way to justify myself so I don't have to self-reflect ANYMORE.” Sorry. I'm getting better. I swear. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/11/25 12:17 AM
Visited the other divorce subs and I'm shocked...I've been considering writing a post like this for a few weeks now. I joined other subs to get different perspectives, but every other post is asking how to get divorced and probably 100% of the feedback is encouraging it. The argument is, “I've told him over and over for years that I was unhappy.” Well, we told them too! Perhaps I'm still in the web of bitterness, because for over 20 years I was someone's best friend, yet today you'd think I never did a thing for her. She was blind over half of… | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/11/25 05:16 PM

The Bad GuyI’m a serial cheater with a sob story who blames my ex-wife? You don’t even know me. You’re speaking from your own painful experiences. I appreciate different opinions and perspectives, but you’re not adding anything valuable to the conversation. It’s all judgements, assumptions, and unfounded accusations. You should look into why you have so much resentment in your own heart. It might help you the next time you feel compelled to squeeze the world into your own bubble. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/08/24 01:26 PM

The Bad GuyI have addressed it in therapy. The whole idea of successful recovery is to first acknowledge your own responsibility in your life. I don’t blame anyone for the decisions I made. I chose to deal with my problems in a way that was destructive to my relationship. But two things can be true at once. I’ve also had couples therapy where my wife acknowledged her emotional abuse, vow to make a change, and then continue the same behavior. I understand your hesitation to believe what I’m saying, but oddl… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/08/24 03:07 AM
