It sounds like he is trying to help, but has a lack of empathy about the emotional loops you are and will be going through. Perhaps he has no experience with this. It will take some time before you will be ok around other couples without feeling like a failure. It's ok. Your mind is a jumble I'm sure. Mine was too. Just process at your own pace. That is very hard emotionally. I experienced many nights of no sleep. Sobbing, laying on the floor, feeling directionless and trying to pretend everything was normal when I was in public and around others. All the while it felt like I was wearing a mask.
