So 100% debt to GDP ratio is a good thing? Apparently.

I think you're pretty obviously correct that "going back" to traditional life is a pipe dream; things never were what these folks wish they were. It's a common thread among most conservative movements. The Good Old Days® weren't as they imagine, and certainly weren't better for most people in most ways. Idk how convincing your specific examples will be for folks (time and comments will tell) but your main position is correct. It boils down to "if the old way was better we wouldn't have adopted a…

Even in this last comment you're getting your lines crossed between internal struggles and insecurities and the behaviors of the people around you. You're taking how someone else's actions made you feel and then blaming yourself for trusting them. What's worse is that you then take it a step farther by trying to operationalize your mistrust into controlling other people. This is what egocentrism looks like. There's two pretty ironic things here: first, these are exactly the qualities that you cl…

Dude, bullshit. The anger phase is the equivalent of "black kids were mean to me in school and I got robbed by a black guy once so now I'm a racist I 'know better'".

Bruh, that's not at all what we're talking about. The comment thread is specifically about culture, not genes.

First, different person. Second, what part of what you said was a joke? Either stand by your views or drop them, weaksauce.

Don't get too hung up on the "Captain" aspect. If a Captain consistently leads you somewhere you didn't want to go, he's not a very good captain, right? Put another way, if you and your partner don't want the relationship to go the same way, you're going to have problems, but if you want the same things, you're going to do fine. The power dynamic of a relationship is a superfluous construct that addresses the insecurity of one partner's inability to commit to decisions and the other partner's in…

I don't think you understand Japanese culture. They've spent the last two hundred years going out of their way to become more Western. You know how long swords have been banned in Japan? As long as samurais have kept them from being like Western society.

The fabric of society isn't predicated on dominion. One sex gets full agency and the other gets almost none? And somehow, instead of women being the borderline slaves they would be in that zero-self-determination scenario, TRP wants me to believe that men are the commodity? And by the way, the 1/5 of the world that isn't starving savages and the traditional, high birthrate cultures are pretty much mutually exclusive you dumb twat. Go be a Mormon or a Muslim if that's the life you want.

Tone policing? You mean there's people out there violating your constitutional right to be an asshole to service people and still be entitled to the same level of service? What is this world coming to? Which amendment was that again?

Stress doesn't fester in men because... why exactly? Totally unrelated, fringe idea here, but I think emotional intelligence (empathy) is something that is built into gender roles as much as biology. I'm a man, and I wasn't that understanding or caring as a teen, but I've learned a ton from my wife, from volunteering with underprivileged kids, from my Psych degree, from learning to appreciate literature, etc. Now I understand other people's emotions and pain too well, some shit is less funny tha…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
