Today, I am living in a world where both Vice President JD Vance and former President Barack Obama have publicly criticized misandry. Do you have a link for Obama? I tried looking it up and all the results were about the comments he made about black men just before the election.

I can only think of a single time in my life when I've been in that situation, because, for safety reasons, I essentially do not go out alone at night. I can only think of a single time I went further than the curb outside my house (the rare occasion I'm going out at all is just because I forgot to put the trash out and too much has accumulated to miss a week without becoming a problem). But yes, the one time it happened I did get very wary immediately and decide to go home once I realized someo…

I would suggest looking up homicide stats. They are hugely lopsided, and it is men that are disproportionately the victim. Edit: Thank you by the way, for making such an effort the engage with this stuff.

I certainly recognize that it is possible he is overreacting. But I suspect you, /u/YetAgain67 /u/eco_disaster and /u/Johntoreno may be hearing "Romance" and thinking of the scene in Titanic where the car windows steam up and you see nothing. Here is a bit from chapter 8 of Fifty Shades of Grey, p. 225 and 226 of my ebook copy. "You're so deliciously wet. God, I want you." He thrusts his finger inside me, and I cry out as he does it again and again. He palms my clitoris, and I cry out once more.…

Sort of. It would certainly make me feel a lot better at least. It fucks me up a lot to see there's a lot of people that should be on the same side as me, but are unwilling to give me the same considerations I give them. I already think a lot of left wing policies do make things better for men, and if people could just quit doing so much to actively drive men away, they'd have more opportunity to actually implement them. I also think if men’s issues were more widely acknowledged, then politician…

I wonder if comments are disabled under that video because feminists keep saying women have it worse, which leads to arguments. 5 different videos I checked on their channel all had comments disabled, including a 1m24s fluff piece about a cougar approaching a family using their hot tub, and a video about America banning red dye number 3.

Because it's a term from 1975 used to describe the way predominantly male filmmakers of that era sometimes used the camera to sexualize women for the viewing pleasure of the male audience, and sometimes literally as a representation of the in universe perspective of a male character. Hollywood in 1975 did not have a lot of women making decisions on what shots to use, and I'm not sure they had anyone at all making those decisions with the goal of satisfying the sexual interests of lesbians and bi…

All men are potentially con-artists, bullies or man-babies and worse. That is the nature of human interaction. Any woman I meet could be like my mother, who hit me, screamed at me, and once threw me out of the house in the middle of the night when I was 12 because I didn't brush my teeth. Most bad people have some level of understanding that their behavior is not widely accepted, and hide it accordingly. There is no positive behavior a sufficiently competent abuser can’t imitate. Some people are…

I seriously struggled to parse this article. I genuinely tried probably more than a dozen different approaches to respond to it, and all seemed completely inadequate. I think the problem is the article seems to be written by a guy that is still seriously struggling with the idea of what it means to be a man, and as a result it's inconsistent, confused, and sometimes seems to excuse some seriously concerning behavior. The author seems to have somehow internalized a view of masculinity that is pri…

I think part of the problem is that the most overt misandry tends to happen in women's spaces, which in my experience are pretty quick to ban dissent. Men's spaces might go for outright bans less often, but it's not uncommon for women to get dogpiled and face a lot of heavy scrutiny from a dozen different directions at once, which also sucks and honestly they're more likely to be preaching to the choir anyway. So then that leaves more generalist spaces, where the issues with how people talk abou…

As far as solutions, personally I'm looking to start small. I want it to be more possible to acknowledge that men face problems that disproportionately affect them as a result of their gender, that some of these problems are serious, that they cannot be solved by men's individual action, that they require the involvement of society as a whole and women as a group, and that sexism towards men is real, causes harm, and is not so rare that it merits ignoring. I would also like to see a slight shift…

For example, it consistently claims to care about truth and avoiding disinformation, even when exposed as clearly presenting untruths and disinformation. This is not the result of simply parroting what it scraped. I expect the training data to include very few examples of people saying they don't care about truth, and even fewer of people copping to having spread disinformation. What you're describing sounds like exactly what I would expect from a machine that tries to put together the most like…

I try to be considerate, and think carefully about the roots of an argument but honestly, I find it hard to handle this argument with the care I generally do. This is very simple to me. You cannot justify dehumanizing people on the basis of immutable characteristics, ever. Rhetoric that compares groups of people to animals should set off extreme alarm bells in anyone who puts the slightest amount of thought into it. It is genuinely, inherently dangerous. Jewish people are not rats, black people …

you continue to promote some kind of mutual respect and unreciprocated benevolence to a group that, by no fault of its own necessarily, cannot and will not listen to or care about your problems. My moral standards don't change based on whether people are nice to me. I think it’s bizarre that this is even a factor to you, that’s a fundamentally different way of viewing morality. This isn’t even true. Aside from the fact that I have seen plenty of individual women demonstrate mutual respect and re…

A bit of context first: Although it is literally true that I advocate for men, I do not consider myself a male advocate, and so I wouldn't necessarily consider myself representative of the sub. Although this sub sometimes discusses things I consider important, I continue to feel politically homeless. I do not consider myself a male advocate because my motivation is the promotion of leftwing policies, male advocacy is simply an avenue which I think the left has done a woeful job of utilizing, and…

Honestly just one of the most genuinely bizarre bits of our culture. I get employers trying to squeeze every last bit of value out of workers, but the cashier isn't going anywhere, there's a line of 8 people at every register, how in the world does anyone give the tiniest fuck if they sit or stand?

I agree it doesn't have the direct bearing on our lives that abortion access does, but it does matter in a pretty real way. It's representative of how men’s lives are valued. It doesn't even really matter if the requirement is repealed or not, because if America is ever in a situation where the people in power feel they need more bodies, they are going to get them, regardless of what the legality of it was the day before they made that decision, and it's going to be mostly men’s bodies that they…

No problem. Thanks for your efforts. I can advocate for other groups easily, but doing even basic male advocacy makes me feel like I'm doing something morally wrong, so I very much appreciate having one extra person willing to do it sometimes so I can do more of the advocacy that doesn't put me in an emotional state that's wildly unconducive to good discussion.

How do you tell a guy that you really care about and support the MRM, without coming across as a 'pick me'? You're going to often have a different experience of this than me since (I infer, if I misread I apologize) you're a woman, but I'm of the opinion that the use of labels like that primes people to think of you as the most unreasonable form of that viewpoint, the kind of person that is pushy and obnoxious and interjects it into situations that don't merit politicization. Think how people re…
