That last sentence was gold. Thanks for that. Reading gems like that makes me realise that although it can be shit at time in life, it's not really. You make your own happiness. Cheers bud.

This is really relatable. I went through a phase of poor diet, no exercise, lots of alcohol. It had a hugely detrimental affect on my mental health. I wouldn't say I was depressed but I was very close. Then I did pretty much everything on this list and I'm the happiest I've ever been. Good, solid advice.

The resistance you're facing just tells you one thing: you're improving and getting better, and people don't like that. It reminds them of their own mediocrity. Keep going bro.

Look at the media circus that this initially generated, ruining a eminent scientist's career. And yet the revelation that he was joking? Just swept under the rug. Nobody gives a shit. What a sad, sad world we live in sometimes.

I find visualising stages of yourself in the future, e.g. bits of yourself that you've improved, really helped me. Take it one step at a time.

I dropped him a PM. Sometimes when people reach rock bottom, that's the time to introduce some hard truths.

I've slowly noticed that my mental language has changed too. Like you put it, I'm starting to realize I ENJOY being a man, and I'm trying to embrace my masculinity, as opposed to be ashamed of it like a lot of modern culture seems to suggest.

Responses are so angry because he's actually asking for advice and wanting to better himself. The responders are content in their mediocrity and happy to trying to bring everyone down to their level.

Chris from Good Looking Loser has an article on basically this exact thing. He calls it "Mr. Juxtaposition". Like you say, he argues that it's OK - maybe even better - if you have a hobby/interest that is seemingly completely at odds with your outward persona.

The last three sentences really resonate with me. Sometimes I ask, "why do I have to self develop whilst others have it naturally?" but then you rightly point out, sometimes that's the key to more happiness...

"I generally looked for 'attractive guys' these guys will be popular" How can you ensure you become friends though? I want to try and cultivate a good solid male friend group at uni/college but I'm slightly worried this won't work out as planned Good post

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
