With regards to military service in Finland, it's discrimination by definition yes, but generally it's thought as a necessary form of discrimination in order to have a reliable military as a small nation. The fact is that it's so much easier to make your average man into a soldier than it is to make your average woman, especially with the limited time they have for conscripts (The service time is 6-12 months) .
