This sub really makes me want to save and hustle up so I can afford my dream dog, the boerboel, and have a wonderful small home with it. I'm so glad those dogs saved you!

Since joining I've been reflecting on my past behavior and it is one train wreck after another. I don't have a journal for these past events, but I have the memories. I'm actually laughing with my best friend right now over my past behavior.

I also feel this way! Especially with wanting to own my own space. When I can finally afford a house I want to decorate it with colorful walls, beautiful plants, and unusual pets. I couldn't deal with someone dictating my personal space. Sometimes I get sad about it, because on paper marriage does sound nice, but the reality is that too many things can go wrong with it. It's not worth it for a person like me who only wants a quiet atmosphere when they come home.

That reminds me of a funny incident. I was staying with my sister before I found my own place. While she and her husband were going out they suggested I look at their shelf for something to read. I picked out Rich Dad Poor Dad by chance. I was sitting on the couch when they got back. When my BIL saw what I was reading he said, "You picked that asshole?"

Even at the time I thought it was a little weird. "Really, at your age?" But I also thought he had his shit together before I got to know him more. lol Maybe if it was just once in a while, and not WOW, I wouldn't have minded.

It is really nice. It's given me a lot to think about now that I'm more aware of what I've taken for granted (not growing as a person by leaving my apartment to visit museums or wherever). I have a nice bucket list of tasks I want to do when things calm down.

When I get back in the dating scene it certainly won't happen again without consequences!

Damn, I'd be taking the whole present back. I wonder if it should be a rule to wait for men to give a gift first before handing them an expensive gift to avoid expensive lessons like this.

Thank you for your kind words. Thankfully it was a short relationship. lol

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
