I think this is a healthier approach.

This is really the sole way out. But, unfortunately, high-conflict divorces hinder that.

Thanks man.

I lived that. Thankfully, she left before the marriage. I was devastated (we have a son) but, ultimately, she did me a favor.

In the end, a LLM is just a diary that mirrors you back. Pretty useful to order thoughts and emotions.

Something is going on. I would address these valid concerns directly.

Sometimes, people just want to leave the relationship to regain some degree of freedom.

As brutal as the translation may seem, it is correct.

However, one child is a blessing nonetheless. I had a son with my ex and, even if I don't plan having other kids, I'm really happy I have him in my life.

Mate congrats for the ride, the energy, the courage and the strength you had in your life up to this point. I think that you will have also a staisfying next chapter of life judging by your attitude! Cheers!

When my ex left me, I stopped almost immediately taking antidepressants. Guess what was the main reason of my clinical depression?

Faith can help very much. You can recover a sense of purpose you absolutely need in the new chapter of your life.

Because they aren't happy with themselves. The marriage falling apart is just collateral damage.

Second this. It was a beautiful and meaningful chapter of OP's life that generated life. It simply won't be the future, but it will be ok nevertheless.

"I love you but I'm not in love with you". Man I despise this moronic statement, and I received it as well. Do you love anybody? Have you any idea of what 'love' entails? Loyalty through illness? Being a team no matter what? Having your child's happiness as top priority? Because I can bet my life on this: you don't love anyone beyond your belly.

That seems a pretty severe social issue to me. And I'm afraid that's true.

Unfortunately, a thing we must teach our children is that people follow patterns. It takes an enormous amount of work changing the internal patterns, so people just roll with it for their whole lives (if they can), don't mind external factors.

In the absence of accountability, every relationship has a maximum duration possible. Honestly, I think that giving marriages a time limit (5-10 years) would better describe the current reality we are living in.

Genius behavior, really.

I think the danger is having other children. When you have a children, your possessions (notably the house) can be devoted to your children future. However, I don't know law on child support when the child isn't yours.

Is that legal? Because if it isn't in her rights, sent that damn thing in North Korea with an expedition.

Your woman has nothing to do with your emptiness. Take accountability, apologize to her, and start therapy to address finally your issues.

She cheated because she is a cheater. She could have ended things and afterwards look for a partner, and instead went for the easy failure route and betrayed her partner. This is entirely on her lack of moral backbone and fear of being alone. Right now, you are looking for a rational answer. That's useless. This doesn't change what she did. You didn't deserve betrayal just because you are human and imperfect. Focus on yourself, your health condition, and moving on. If your partner doesn't stand …

I have only one son and was discarded 8 months before marriage and mortgage, so I'm lucky. After 11 years I learnt this lesson: structure your relationship so that, if it ends, you aren't ruined. I know, easier said than done. For this reason I probably won't ever have another child.

Really, some relationships are worse than being single. This is one of them. Divorce ASAP.

Unfortunately, it seems like she will leave anyway, so option A is not realistic. You risk ending up estranged from your own child, since you don't want to live where she will live. You will have to look for another partner, mate.

Yeah, and zeroing your chances to have another kid. I have one with my ex and, when I look at the future, I simply cannot see myself having another child. I haven't the physical and economical resources to support a second one after all of this.

Yeah I read your posts about your father. It seems indeed like psychosis and projection. I'm so sorry.

Same here. My ex was really similar to my mother. Both emotionally dysregulated. I didn't suspect BPD, though...

Having them the school year it's an excellent outcome. You are already the primary parent, and I'm happy for you. Even though, you need part of the fun Summer time, too.

Man, are you going for primary/full custody? Because, you should.
/r/Divorce_Men27/10/25 04:26 PM

Yeah, so many times it is just paranoia... But don't berate yourself, man. Hard times happen, and we just wanted to have some secure things in your lives not to be questioned anymore, even by our inner demons.

You are lucky. Young, no kids, and a future to live. Now it hurts, but eventually clarity will come, and you will be glad not to be divorced with kids (and possibly having to leave your own house).
/r/Divorce_Men25/10/25 08:23 AM

But... Why? They divorced, they have everything they asked for. This violence is unjustified. My ex had a severe mental issue (BPD, in a weak form but, yeah) and I didn't think so. There's some metal problem also in your cases, imo.

Honestly, OP behavior was not ideal but it wasn't a dealbreaker, either. Plenty of successful marriages deal with way worst shit.
/r/Divorce_Men24/10/25 11:50 AM

That's not healthy, though. After a failure of these proportions, a period to elaborate the new life you have ahead is needed.

Both my parents successfully re-married after divorce. But now that I'm (sort of) in their situation, I'm wondering if a second marriage is worth the risk.

However, that's no good for the kids, imho. They must understand that breaking wovs has consequences. I know it's more painful short-term, but if they see their father building a life from scratch, be it with a partner or be it alone, after divorce, they will have a clear cut example without grey zones.

I have my 3.5 yo 30% of nights. I can say that we have a good bond and he interacts with me on video calls. Try having at least this kind of arrangement. I saw my father 13% of nights all my childhood and I missed my dad very much, even if we have a good relationship nowadays.

How can she ask for 50% of a home she had no business whatsoever? What kind of bullshit is this? Kids aren't involved and she already has a place where she can live!

The good thing is that you have a grown up boy who will be the sense of your life. Those years as an happy family were not lost, even if they ended. You now must think about yourself and your own happiness.
/r/Divorce_Men22/10/25 02:36 PM

My same fear. I would love having another child, another chance to create a stable family, but I don't have the resources to survive another break up like mine, both psychical and materialistic. I will in any case focus on my son, but, really, what are we moving onto?
/r/Divorce_Men20/10/25 08:36 AM

Man you lost your research on this relationship... I refused to leave academic research for my partner, who in the end was BPD diagnosed (almost... She simply fled therapy when discarding me...). I feel you. You were a good and reliable partner, and didn't deserve anything of this.
/r/Divorce_Men18/10/25 11:41 PM

Yeah, you can't control people into marriage. And, with time, people changes... You can only have faith in her, try to make her happy, and protect your assets in case of separation.
/r/Divorce_Men18/10/25 11:38 PM

It's becoming increasingly difficult having a long-term relationship. Marriage itself is losing sense. This is a terrible societal problem that must be faced somehow.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
