Ideally, no. People should have been patriotic enough about their countries to stand up and fight. WW2 however might be the ONLY war I can think of in US history where the draft was justified, and even then it's still not good.

What the hell is with this subreddit and all the cheating apologia? I thought being a traditional man was supposed to be about traditional values, and last I checked honesty and loyalty were part of that. Wow. This seems to be getting a lot of hate for no reason. What's crazy is the reality is that most of it's true. As a man, I do have a couple things to say tho.
