"The Game" was a trip through an elaborate prank. "Requiem for a Dream" was horrific. "The Matrix" made you question reality. And, while this was just a fictional movie, "Eyes Wide Shut" made you realize that reality really can be that bad. And, since it is reality, there is no escaping it. It takes all the forms and symptoms of society - like money, power, status, sex, intimacy, affection, seduction, beauty, drugs, death, loyalty, and elitism - and it shows you how they interact with each other…

This data is very surprising. When I saw the list on the right, I initially thought that it was saying that places like Alaska has 100 men to 1 woman. But, no. It's still almost even, with 110 men to 100 women. Not at all what we are told about places like this. I also wonder how it breaks down locally - because Alaska is a huge place. Like, if there are 20,000 men who travelled to Alaska to work on the oil rigs together, then the 19,000 women to go with those men are somewhere else in Alaska. A…

I would argue that the wall for women is a self-imposed imaginary thing. They get to an age and suddenly want a husband and children. Those things are certainly still able to be had easily by then (as long as they are realistic and not entitled about it), yet they complain about it. But, suddenly, it's an emergency, and the standards and entitlement that women display is an obstacle itself. The wall is something we only witness because of how women behave.

By coming at it with a healthy dose of "meh". By being a little bit nihilistic to begin with, and not coming in here expecting to change the world. How do you move a mountain? One stone at a time. I pile my stone on this side, so hopefully the mountain will be slightly more over this way than the other way.

A weird societal phenomena that affected only a small subset of people, during a brief amount of time, seventy years ago, is still having an effect on you? The lessening in IQ is more likely due to what's been going on the past couple years, as well as both The Dunning Kruger Effect and Bonhoeffer‘s Theory of Stupidity.

I can't find it now, but in some thread a few years ago, a lawyer circulated around a "dichotomy of rape". Basically, it was a series of yes/no gates to determine if you were raped. Some of the phrases that immediately determined that you were not raped were: "I'm not that kind of girl." "I changed my mind." "I wouldn't have sex with a guy like that." I don't remember what it said about alcohol or being inebriated, though, but what was kind of shocking was that it was solely from the female pers…
