The argument I always see is that western women have a very different view of a relationship that western men. This is probably true but I don't know the specifics. Divorce is a big concern for one. I think a lot of men are discouraged by the divorce rate and almost see it as inevitable that they will lose significant money/time/housing/custody rights etc etc.

It's the 80/20. Women are much more selective of mates than men. Men have a much larger range of what is attractive to them. Women are focusing on a very narrow range for relationships. Social media is probably the main culprit. It's not healthy to dwell on the positives/negatives of this, but I think young men need to figure something out.
