I'm also an atheist, and when I was growing up you just didn't criticize religion in polite company. It's pointless to ridicule people for their beliefs anyway. It doesn't convince anyone and only causes animosity. I'm a Southerner too. The Southern way is mainly about reducing social friction.

Of all the labels people care to hang on us, I think MGTOW is the most difficult to subvert because the phrase "to go one's own way" has a pretty specific meaning that doesn't refer to any participants other than the person so labelled; thus, unlike MRA, Red Pill, PUAs, etc., it doesn't reference women or men's interactions with them in any way.

I've heard that some courts forbid men to speak in their own defense at divorce and custody hearings, and forbid them to talk about the proceedings in public. Is that true?
