For me the take away has been that places like this have some value but a limited amount of value. Same is true for pick up material. It's not completely useless, but it's way, way less useful than the pick up artists claim it is.

For a ONS you can get away with a lot more because the girl might not care as much whether you have a good job for instance, or are emotionally available or countless other things that she will want for a long term relationship but may not care about for a ONS.

I agree with this and this is why so many guys wrongly say "it's looks". It is true that looks are very important in attracting a girl but even if a girl is attracted to you based on your looks, you still have to be able to hold a conversation with her and not weird her out or display behaviors that turn her off/are major red flags. This is a lot more difficult than it sounds for a lot of guys and this is why guys who are decent looking can still fail miserably. But yeah, so much is just about w…

I agree, a huge issue I see with pick up artistry is they are focused on selling products and making money. They present generalized advice as though it's a magical bullet that will fix your dating when in reality generalized advice can go either way. It could be beneficial. It could also be harmful. Or could it just not do much either way.

There's nothing wrong with using women as a motivator for a while but understand that it should be only a temporary thing. My advice would be to aim at a healthy life, which can include healthy relationships with women as an important aspect but can also include so many other aspects that you shouldn't feel lost or unmotivated if you have to go without women. Like for example, let's say you had to take a job in a remote location where they were few to no women. Would you be able to remain motiva…

Yes and I also would like to add that I think a flaw in a lot of PUA advice is that it's so focused on how to get the girl when really that's not the most important thing. I think it's more important (in terms of happiness) to learn how to be authentic around girls because that way you will attract the sort of girl you are compatible with, even if it decreases your success in general whereas so much PUA material seems to be geared toward attracting girls as if that's the only thing that matters.

Yeah, I agree. I was saying that you can have this nice guy syndrome and also have your natural personality be nice as well. For example, these days I have gotten much better about expressing my real self and not being a total doormat. However, my personality still tends toward being nice/polite, kind and generous. Of course I've made mistakes and hurt people but I usually feel bad when I do that and I try to be considerate. That seems to be an aspect of my true personality and not just a facade…

I agree with most of this but there are a couple false claims: " The first and most obvious is that they are not actually nice. Everybody knows this though. These guys are angry, bitter sexless assholes. They treat women like shit the moment they get rejected." This is not true, maybe for some guys but I was one of the guys you describe here (mainly because I have never felt comfortable in social situations) and I wouldn't treat women like shit the moment I got rejected. I actually didn't get re…

While I'd agree that if a girl does not find you attractive, it's extremely unlikely you are going to be able to use some "game" technique to make her attracted to you. However, I have an issue with saying "it's looks" because that makes it sound like looks are the only thing that matters which isn't the case at all. Consider for example, a girl who has three good looking guys she is attracted to competing for her. Which do you think she will choose? She will choose the one whom thinks has the m…

Yeah this is stupid, of course you want the girl's number. The reason is that the next day is a whole different ballgame. A girl might like you when she's talking to you but then she goes home and forgets all about you. She gets busy with her work/school/friends/whatever, maybe she is around other guys she likes and you expect her to still be thinking about you and actually initiate a call/text with you? That's only going to happen a small percentage of the time. Getting her number gives you the…

I think you still don't get what I'm saying. I'm not saying telling a girl she looks good is going to make her attracted to you if she isn't already. I am saying it can help you tell if a girl is attracted to you and help move the interaction forward if she is. If you're ugly, of course it's going to be way more difficult to attract girls. What makes you think I am saying otherwise?

I don't understand what prompted your comment. I never said telling a girl she looks pretty will make her like you if she doesn't think you're good looking. The question was how do you escalate with a girl you just met and I said I tell her she's cute or pretty or something and then from her response I can gage whether she is interested in me or finds me creepy or whatever. I didn't say anything about looks whatsoever, that's a different discussion. Basically, if you want to escalate with a girl…

I will do that also but only if I actually like the thing.

I tell her she is cute or pretty or something like that. This seems to work for me because I can tell a lot based off her reaction. I know there are more subtle ways to go about it but I am not good with subtlety in social situations.

"The truth is very different. Women like to chase. Women consider men the prize. Go to any mall or downtown shopping area. I bet you the stores with women's clothes, shoes, lingerie, asshole bleaching, pussy waxing, hair extensions, butt lifts, fake tits, lip injections etc outnumber the stores that cater to guys like 20 to 1. If women have all the fucking power, why would they subject themselves to all this torture of high heels, make up, liposuction, fake body parts and so on and so forth? If …

Same thing happened to me with my dad. He never really gave me much advice. He was good at teachings me some practical things like "here's how you do this math problem" or "here's how you can save money when shopping" but when it came to teaching me how to live, how to deal with people, how to deal with women, how to deal with emotions, how to get what you want, he gave almost no advice. I won't ever have children but I feel like if I had a son, I would have so much advice to give him on how to …

Get a job that forces you to interact with people for much of the day and gradually improve your social skills. I'm of the school of thought that you can't really be confident unless you have some actual successes to back it up. For example, after you start a conversation with someone and have it go well, you will then become more confident that you can do it again. After you've done it several times you will be even more confident. I don't think you can become confident without those successes …

That depends on your situation. I for example already work a physical job, so I'm in good shape but since I don't lift weights, do heavy lifting or crunches or anything I'm not ripped. I look strong, but nowhere near ripped. When I get off work I am tired and don't have the energy to do another workout. I'd rather focus on my diet, which is a lot of work in itself, to eat well. I've never been ripped so I don't know what it would take, but I think it would actually be a lot of effort for guys wh…

You don't need a chiseled body (although it helps) but you just need to be in shape. If you're wearing clothes girls won't even see all your muscles anyway.

If you're short, try to go after short women.

Looks obviously matter. I would argue that social skills and charisma matter more than looks but that doesn't mean looks don't matter a lot also. It's like saying in baseball that it's not the ability to hit for power that makes you a good offensive player but hitting for average and getting on base. It's a false dichotomy. Being able to hit for power and average are both valuable. As a guy who is decent looking but was always very shy and socially awkward I used to believe looks didn't matter m…

Agreed Tired0fPain, I have also had signs of uncertainty and worse and still turned it around on multiple occasions. Of course the majority of the time that may not happen but you don't want to give up too quick and lose the 10-20% percent of interactions that were possible to turn in your favor.
