OYS #8 23 yo, 172.6lbs, LTR 2 years Fitness Going smoothly, been strict about my nutrition and training, no issues on this front other than just keeping the ball rolling and time. Training Muay Thai 5-7 times a week, with additional supplementary training (pull ups, sport specific stuff, etc.) Frame & Sidebar Been going back and mapping out my behavior and trying to nail down fundamentals. A concept from sparring I realized is that you need to practice a response with tons of effort and slowly b…

OYS #7 23 yo 175lbs Fitness - Began sparring on Friday and it went about as well as expected, I got punched a bunch. Starting in the new year my gym is adding more morning classes so I’ll be doing Muay Thai 5 days in the mornings before work, gonna be nice to get it out of the way early. I’ve been pretty light on lifting, but I still get some volume at home which seems to be enough to still keep growing, more pull ups and at home weights and a few workouts at a proper gym, my goal is to fight in…

OYS #6 175lbs, squat- 1RM 185lbs, deadlift 1RM 225lbs Fitness Getting in better shape has been my primary focus of the last month and a half and it’s had some challenges but I’ve been getting into a good stride, doing Muay Thai 5 days a week and lifting 2x a week now, going after Muay Thai does make it a bit harder to get as much out of my lifts but sticking to the 5x5 program with some variations for combat sports seems to be working. I’m noticing myself get leaner and my weight going down stea…

I mainly do Muay Thai, so while my shoulders tweaked, I'm only going to do leg days at the gym and PT exercise routines at home.

OYS #5 177.7 lbs Fitness: Started the 5x5 Strong lifts program, only to have the bench press tweak my shoulder and send that back to square one. Setting up an appointment with a physical therapist to have this stop happening. In the meantime, I've doubled down on Muay Thai, going 6 times a week and getting some additional cardio in. Getting closer to being in some of the best shape I've been in, but I'm still too fucking fat for that. Game: Been implementing dread and keeping busy and it's been …

OYS #4 176.6 lbs Fitness: Doing Muay Thai consistently 5-6 times a week, I realized the source of my shoulder and hip issues and out together a corrective PT routine i'm doing 3-4 times a week to fix those issues and get back to benching and overhead lifting. In the meantime I'm just going to focus on back and leg lifts, primarily with a goal of getting my squat to 225lbs for 5 reps (currently 185lbs for 6 reps, but not a stable 6 reps.) Nutrition: Took the advice on my last OYS and started doin…

OYS #3 23yo Bench - 135, squat - 195, deadlift - 225 177.7 lbs Redoing my MAP: I’ve been breaking down my MAP into steps that even a monkey could follow, this week I’ve been keeping a note of every behavior I catch that’s external validation/approval seeking. I’ve noticed that 1. I’m a needy bitch 2. The things I seek validation for are always things that I do, or have, but never things that I “am”. Im not sure what the takeaway is there, but I think it means that I just need to find ways to val…

OYS #2 23yo Bench - 135, squat - 195, deadlift - 225 177.7 lbs I’m feeling a lot of resentment again towards my gf, I think it may be a sticking point with detaching myself from codependency. It infuriates me when she doesn’t take care of her health and then says shit like I don’t wanna be a burden or so on. Why? Because she’s already being a burden, now is that because I let her be one? Most likely. I’m struggling to find the balance between comfort and focusing on myself. What am I going to do…

OYS #3 22yo, 181lb, B-135lb S-225lb D-225lb So 1yr Reading- NMMNGx1 (currently re-reading) MMSLPx1, WISNIFGx1 I’m not doing as much as a I could be and it’s pathetic. I’m so used to making excuses that it’s alarming how my brain defaults to them. I’m starting to notice how often I make them in my head and recognize it as an excuse and apply the DEER principles to my own mind. As I read NMMNG for a second time I can notice my mind trying to tune out the information and resist change which is fuck…

OYS #2 Age: 22, 5’11”, 185lbs, SO 1yr, READ- NMMNG x 1, MMSLP x 1, Currently rereading NMMNG after it was pointed out that I fucking suck at not seeking external validation, textbook nice guy seeking to avoid conflict and other peoples validation. Working through the exercises slowly and getting shit to sink in more. GYM - current routing now that I’ve started Muay Thai this week is 3 days Muay Thai a week for 60mins, and lifting 3 days a week, still playing around with adjusting volume to make …

OYS 1 22yo, 5’11”, 184lbs, SO 1 yr Gym: currently getting over a fever that put me out of the gym for 4 days but back on my usual 4 day upper lower schedule. Doing pt to strengthen my rotator cuffs so I can bench again. Starting Muay Thai next week so I’m adding in at least 2 runs a week. Current time was 30m for 2.2 miles, super slow. Mental and books: NMMNG x1 WISNIFGx1 POOKx1 I’m currently rereading NMMNG, I find that im having a hard time getting these concepts to stick and change my behavio…
