I don’t think women should have to risk their physical safety to make other people feel better. I am sincerely sorry that you feel invisible, and I would encourage you to seek therapy for that. I know people suggest that a lot but it really can help. If you base your self-worth on how other people (women or men) see you, you’ll never be happy or content. Of course not, because showing up on time is just part of what you agreed to when you took the job. Doing that doesn’t mean you’re a stellar employee.
