It may be an ego thing but it’s not about your ego, it’s about your child. The Mother isn’t paying for you, she’s paying for HER child. You absolutely need to claim the money in support of your child. They’re entitled to it !

I’m going to be ruthless - As someone who has been through this, the time for tears can come later. Get a divorce straight away, get any finances in order and don’t pander to her. Honestly, it easy to think “what went wrong ? What happened ?” but it’s not going to change anything. If she loves you, she’ll come back but being pragmatic, she likely won’t. I know this is a very black and white way of thinking but honestly, I wish someone had told me. Don’t sit around moping, waiting, hoping - it’s …

"We’re both entitled to half the equity in the house" - I'm guessing you are in the United States. For anyone reading this, if you're in the UK - that's not strictly true. In the UK, the STARTING point is 50/50. If you have kids, you may want to seek legal advice. If you have a home (irrespective of who's name it's in), it may very well be classed as a matrimonial asset - meaning that depending on the situation with the children (and particularly with children), that might not neccessarily be 50…

Honestly…. I would have it out with her. Tell her straight “I don’t like the way you’re talking to me - you are being deliberately rude for no reason and I don’t appreciate you dictating to me”. She is trying to just be unnecessarily difficult and if she wants to fuck off (rather than respect you have a right to breathe too), then she can bugger off. Sorry but you’re not a door mat and it’s just not OK for her to treat you this way !

I'm sorry to hijack a thread - this thread is probably not designed for me at all as i'm a) long divorced and b) gay but as someone with a lot of female friends, it makes me wonder whether your wife is actually going through personal problems which are causing her to act this way. My initial reaction is that she is perimenopausal. Perimenopause can cause a lot of women to have a personality breakdown and can actually make them behave in ways they haven't before. They know it's happening but they…

This is going to sound direct but you need to break up as soon as possible. Think of the impact this is having on your children. To your mind, you want to save your family and the life you have together and that's understandable but as you say, it's over. She's clearly made up her mind. There's fighting, name calling, yelling, insults - children are very susceptible and they will have noticed this. They'll have noticed the tension and it may very well have already affected them. Think of them no…
