Do something you like. This is especially true since you're going through a very depressing time with low motivation anyways. Men sometimes think gym means "weight lifting" but it's whatever you can do consistently right now. Basketball, elliptical, swimming...whatever gets you there and engaging. I had many a day where I was so depressed I'd show up...sit in the sauna for 20 minutes...then leave. Still counts! Lol.

So there's two kinds of stress. Distress and eustress (the good kind). Here's the thing...your body doesn't know the difference. Like a cat that gets diarrhea when they get a new, better cat-food. (Weird analogy I guess but you get the point). A new job and moving are stressful events. Even if they're good.

There was a book that came out in 2000. They had looked at 25 years of divorce to see if it really was "better for the children" to stay married in unhappy marriages. The conclusion is...overwhelmingly yes it is.
/r/Divorce_Men13/03/24 03:12 PM

I'm 4 years officially divorced now. 85, 90% of women who divorce ... They're bored/ wanting new D ( or getting it for some divorces on here). They give you the crocodile tears and blame on how "ahh shucks, I truly wanted it to work but you didn't try hard enough husband☹️🥺" while they can barely maintain their excitement to their friends how many matches they've gotten since they've separated from you 8 days prior. But that's the thing...it's the same script. And most guys figure this out a few…

We went to a guy psychologist. He criticized her on some stuff in one session after doing a few get to know you sessions and....she said we were never going back...and we didn't. Years later I went down the rabbit hole on tiktok with this and apparently it's very much a thing. Women will want therapy assuming that clearly the entire world can see she's right and he's wrong. /s and then when they're told that yes...theyre adults that do wrong things too, they can't handle it and end therapy.

Apparently they even have a term for it. Checkmarking. Very helpful for them to come away not looking like the bad guys. "But we went to therapy and shucks it just didn't help 😔"

In regards to your last part...unless a single mom is an anesthesiologist or some shit, any guy is better than being single. Women can and do use guys for a decade (or more) if they need to. I'd rather stay single than take that risk with single moms personally. There was a dude on here that remarried. She had two kids. Youngest was 7...11 years later he gets hit with divorce papers a few weeks after the youngest graduates.

Caring about your partner doesn't make you dumb . The truth is women will use a guy for as long as they need to until their ducks are in a row. If its 6 months or 6 years, it's all fair game to them. Whatever they need for it to be convenient enough for them to leave.
/r/Divorce_Men08/03/24 08:51 PM

Men get told they're "abandoning your family" when they do this while women get widely praised for the eat pray love stuff. So interestingly you might come to regret it just because society will harp on you so much for it. The fact your wife has already mentioned finding someone else is concerning, and you should realize if she can say it out loud it's because she's thought about it extensively already. I tell married dudes this all the time. If she will throw out the D word in fights it's becau…

You are correct. At least one study Said marriages had higher divorce rates. It's like women end up gaslighting themselves with this. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/9572187/Couples-who-share-the-housework-are-more-likely-to-divorce-study-finds.html
/r/Divorce_Men08/03/24 01:11 AM

It's also not why women actually divorce, not statistically. It's a ready-made excuse women use. https://www.today.com/health/household-chores-not-reason-why-many-marriages-split-after-all-t101239

I had a counselor tell me that in almost every relationship she'd seen, one person had the love, and the other had the leverage. For every person who says " i miss them every second were apart " their partner could be very "meh" about the whole thing. Id...diversify your assets a bit emotionally my man. But I'm glad you're happy.

If you lose a job, what do you do? Just get another one 🤷. Companionship is better than not for me. I'm sure I'll remarry. Depends on the guy though. My parents are poor losers that can't even pay to have a used car. And my job is..ok but I'd literally walk right out the door the second I could if I got a windfall. Some dudes have great families and/or pretty cool jobs to keep them going. Got to have something to look forward to. "Well she might leave like the 1st one". All love ends eventually.…

I've told the joke on here a few times. "Why do lesbian mariages have the highest divorce rates?" A: Why admit you're wrong when you can just divorce instead. But seriously, you get two people in a relationship who will deny responsibility for any of the problems and blame the other...well you're gonna end up with the highest seperation rates.

"Please remind me this is all garbage nonsense". Correct. It's word-salad that means nothing now. I'll die on the hill that the vast majority of times when women want divorce it's cuz they're bored/want new d/ want a new "adventure". And here's the thing OP....they know this too. And they'll easily admit as much to their girlfriends and coworkers Dudes get the gaslighting and crocodile tears. Most ofc aren't sociopaths, they know that the divorce is going to destroy the lives of their husbands(a…

Its my one hard and fast rule. Don't remarry a single mom if the kid/kids are minors. Shit a lot of women use their husbands to begin with. But with single moms literally any guy with a job is better than them being single. The risk is way too high that you're gonna get used and they'll dump you once the kids graduate. I've seen it happen.

Study by Harvard said people married after 1975(so almost everybody lol) chores wasn't a factor in divorce. Social media loves using this excuse as why women divorce, but where the rubber meets the road it doesn't seem to actually matter. Granted, anecdotes exist but on the whole women find it a ready made excuse to cover up the real reason, which usually is boredom and/or wanting new D. https://www.today.com/health/household-chores-not-reason-why-many-marriages-split-after-all-t101239

what's crazy about this is she tried to give him an ultimatem to quit football or she would divorce him. And that was the rumor mill for a bit then...well we found out about her having an affair years before anyways. Sounds like she wanted to placate her guilt in ending her family so he'd be the bad guy. Damn, I guess super models really are like normal women after all lol.

Let's tone down the deification. She takes shits just like you do. It's very difficult for the one who doesn't want the divorce, especially for guys because of our lack of support in society. I was a fucking train wreck until year 4. I gwt it. But we need to taper the woman-worship. Just say these even if you don't believe it. "I was happy before her, I'll be happy after her" I like the shit one mentioned above but that's not everybody's style. "My life is going to be awesome anyways ". Or whate…

There was a study that women reported doing better than men after divorce. My response to that is...no shit. Doesn't take a genius to figure out the one who made out like a bandit is doing better than the one stuck with the bill (figurative or literal). This isn't a game. Divorce ruins lives. It sucks that some just get off scott free from it. It sucks that your wife wont ever have a reckoning for what she did to you, or the time she took from you. But that's life. The best we can hope for is th…

Statistically? I'm not sure you can. Like if we're having this conversation in a stadium of guys. As a man, try not to lose a job.... that increases divorces. Hope your wife doesn't get a friend that is divorced. That increases your chance of divorce by 70%. Hope she doesn't get bored I guess? I mean lesbian marriages have the highest divorce rates and in hetero marriages we all know here they initiate divorce the vast majority of the time. "Which is why I lost her emotionally years before the marriage ended " Woman who "emotionally checked out' in guy terminology is "using your spouse". It's the hill I'll die on. Woman have a right to divorce their husbands, they do not have a right to use them. Your wife clearly knew you were stable (and a high income earner it sounds like) so she rode your coattails for years and then left you when it was convenient. They don't get a pass for that.

And if you had had more hobbies or a busier work schedule or whatever, she would've hit you with the "you didn't make me a priority and fight for our marriage, so I had to have sex with another guy". Whatever they can get to stick to the wall to justify the reason.

50 years? Ain't nobody want to be around 50 years from now.😉 I'm ok with self-determination....if I'm still poor at 60 I'm checking out. I just think 30 (with a kid) is still young. Plus mentally it's like torture thinking you have to stick around for 5 decades. I don't even want to do that. Maybe set a goal until your boy is an adult. Then...reassess if you need to.

Women know...years and years in advance they're going to leave. It's the dirty secret of marriage. 10 year marriage the wife ends? Congrats, she knew in year 4. Hell some knew the entire time. Women talk about this to each other all the time. Like how men talk about hunting or the Super Bowl. They'll casually mention to their girlfriends about leaving the husband 3 or 5 or 8 years in the future when the kid hits a certain age, or a certain amount of the house gets paid off , or they qualify for …

Pump the brakes my brother about things not getting better! A month is super fresh. I tried to kill myself and spent a week in a psychiatric hospital like 7 months post seperation (for the record it wasn't an attempt to "win her back" or anything, as far as I know she never found out). Damn 2 year blues today. This is the 2nd comment I've seen today about the 2 year mark. I was still a mess until like...year 4. That's not to discourage anyone making them think it will take that long. It usually doesn't. But it can. I read an article (and for the life of me can't find it again). Ultimately it's about apathy. Your exs life should simply not interest you one way or the other. But....reality is often complicated. I love this post because guys really do come out ahead long-term in a lot of this. A few studies have shown this in regards to happiness with men and women. "And the specific wife I am dealing with is my problem" Well maybe you're right, or maybe you won't be. But I will say this. I dated a gal... She was a stunner. More beautiful than my ex. Sex was amazing. I broke up with her. Two kids with two dudes. Thanks but I learned my lesson. She not surprisingly easily found a dude to marry her. She now lives in his house with her two kids....and a cousin(I think) of hers . You think her credit union teller salary is paying for those two kids and a cousin…

"She filed papers" Yeah he's toast. He'll figure that out eventually. for whatever reason even though she initiated it I knew it was over when she left. I was standing in my Moms kitchen two days after the fact and like a lightning bolt it hit me "I'm never going to see her again". And I didn't. Papers didn't get filed for like 10 months. But my radar knew it was over. She even sent a text around my bday "hey if you get things worked out in the future reach out to me". Well funny...because my li…

I'd bet good money my ex didn't cheat, or even engage in social media tom- foolery while we were married. I would also bet she was really excited to get on tinder while we were still married, in mental preperation for the seperation. And probably did within...a few weeks or so. Not all women, but id be shocked if the vast majority of women who initiate divorce aren't excited to get that new attention and , and do get it really quick, after they seperate. Like you said, doesn't matter with your e…

Very true. A man's job situation has a profound effect on chances of divorce at least from one study I read. That same study said a woman's employment status had no effect on divorce rates.

I'm kinda thinking her screaming and crying that she hated me and wanted to divorce 3 weeks after our wedding on her period was a decent sign to how things were going to go. 😬 the advice given to me was as a women she was vulnerable and it was a new change and I needed to be supportive. Oops. I tell any guy now when it comes up. The D word comes out you call their bluff right then and there. Apart from that...you've just go to understand that your fiance ( yes yours) considers marriage to you an…

I consider myself quite left wing, especially economically. I'm sure there's crossover between the red-pill and being right wing. But at the end of the day...I'm a pragmatist more than anything. If you're a guy and you lose a job, your chance of divorce increases, but a woman's unemployment status had no effect on divorce rates. If you're wife gets a friend who is divorced your chance of divorce goes up(not even kidding). If you say get hit with a bad bout of depression...your wife could absolut…

"It was nice but lonely" I've found that certain activities feel less 'lonely". Mainly events where people show up and leave at the same time. Sports, movies, concerts , religious events etc. I've eaten alone and...you feel alone. But I've been to a dozen movies alone and I don't feel that way. I went to a basketball game and it was the same. Granted, it's not like going with a date or 5 of your best friends, but it beats dinner or going to the mall (where for me at least I feel the loneliness i…

Great advice. Men are taught it's an ironclad commitment. Women are taught it's at-will. I think if men want to be in another ltr...great! but just realize your SO very likely considers an it at-will situation. It's dumb to pretend otherwise.

Marriage is serious shit. somebody always gets stuck with the bill. Shit sometimes it's the children. But it's too serious of a thing for all parties to get away scott-free. There's a reason people say this "ruined me life" , not "oh, my divorce mildly inconvenienced me". Sometimes things fall apart for the one who left on top but...That's not always the case. My ex played her cards right and used me as a slingshot to a better life. She saw me as a means to an end and...benefited from the marria…

"Why do all-women marriages have the highest divorce rates"? why admit you're wrong when you can just divorce yoink! If you don't think you're doing anything wrong or that you don't need to improve...the relationship becomes untenable. Not a whole lot can be done to resolve conflicts at that point. this is actually a thing in marriage therapy. (Some) women will ask for counseling, and when the marriage therapist tells them they do wrong things too...the women refuse to ever go back. I went down …

A mans chance of divorce shoots-up when his wife has a friend(s) that are divorced. Sounds like maybe some of her friends mightve wanted company in misery. And also, I think what OP wrote about what his ex said is telling. But all guys need to think about what she said : 2 decade marriage, reared 2 kids together, both only ever intimate with each other. And she misses....the money he provided. Granted, she was talking to the kids. But what does she mention? $$ Didn't mention they're no longer a …

Isn't being a man great? 🤣 I've heard this life irony also applies with the woman wanting the divorce too. You basically have to let them walk because the more you try and win them back they'll see it as groveling, and you're not a strong independent guy. Geez what a game huh.
