What I interpret from the critics of evolutionary psychology -- regardless of its validity -- is an unwillingness to accept scientific discoveries for fear that they may set some undesirable precedent. You see this with opponents of evolution and their "well, if you teach kids we came from monkeys then they'll just start behaving like monkeys" argument. That's why I can't consider those people feminists. Ironically, as you point out, they end up upholding patriarchal gender roles, i.e. treat women like delicate, fragile children, and expect men to "grow up!" and behave like mature, "proper" men. And they call that "feminism." Go figure.
