"I double dog the fucking dog dare you." The man had no choice.

It appears we simply differ in terms of our opinons on two aspects of the case and rather than belabor corollary points I'll briefly address those. As for "a reasonable length of internment", I see her punishment as just given the circumstances. Had she been given a 300 day sentence for a singular act of contempt, perhaps I'd be inclined to side with you. That said, that is not what happened here. I believe the woman chose to, for a duration of approximately one minute, engage and remain in a si…

I respect the majority of your former assertions as well-formulated opinions while recognizing your acumen, however, your previous comments reflect a shallow understanding of the material presented thus far as evidenced by your redundant and illogical conclusions. You yet to establish, beyond your own assertion of its veracity, how exactly the two scenarios are incomparable. Once again: "This discussion is ultimately a matter of opinion and therefore empirical evidence is relatively unavailable.…

There are those of us who have reached a point of maturity wherein we do not find it necessary to sit by our computer waiting for the next response from the pseudointellectuals Reddit has to offer in abundance in an effort to feel better about ourselves.

You've made no point for which to concede to. The "point" of concession which you refer to is in regards to the lack of similarity between excessive incarceration as a disciplinary method intended to inhibit unacceptable, although uninjurious, behavior and your attempts to instill obedience in your daughter by mandating an appropriate period of "time-out." You may appropriately assert a parallel as it pertains to a generic restriction of "freedoms" in general, however, in application the two ins…

Sadly you are an ignorant, uneducated, prejudicial waste of a cerebral cortex, lacking the mental faculties to construct and assert a well-reasoned and logical argument. You draw your fallacious conclusions on the basis of an emotional bias as opposed to empirical evidence and your corollary information is anecdotal at best. The behavior of the woman prior to this occasion in regards to the alleged violation of a restraining order is contextually irrelevant. You are unfortunately so comsumed by p…

The judge has the inherent power to dramatically infringe upon the rights granted to every American citizen and his behavior should therefore be held to a standard far higher than that of an ignorant and immature woman. Proportionate discipline should be a critical focus for the members of our society who hold these relatively unlimited judicial powers. I completely agree with the assertion that she requires a stiff lesson is respect, however, as a matter of principle, it is inaproppriate to abu…

The principles remain different regardless of your inability to concede the point. Dramatically restricting the freedoms of a American citizen is not comparable to putting your daughter in time-out despite your attempts to draw inappropriate parallels between the similarity of their behavior. Also, "adults" are some of the most immature, narcissistic, selfish, abusive, violent, and unethical people on this planet. This idealistic and dogmatic defnition of adulthood that is often conveniently use…

Your allowing your personal feelings regarding your evaluation of the womans character to cloud your judgement concerning the behavior of an authority figure. Edit: Having power in and of itself does not constitute a right or an obligation to wield it. Authority and "legality" is not an implicit allowance for unethical or immoral behavior.

If a particular method of behavioral correction is clearly ineffective, yet the authority figure continues their response based off emotion as opposed to merit, does it not follow that the conduct of the figure in question might be deemed an abuse of power?

Actually you don't do this with your daughter. The judge didn't tell this lady to take a time-out, he incarcerated her within a system that will systematically deny her her freedoms for a period of ten months. What you exercised with your daughter was "reasonable discipline," and your tactics didn't ruin her life for a prolonged and unecessary period.

I apologize for identifying your ignorance and attempting to educate you. If, in the future, you should desire to contribute something intelligent to the conversation I would be more than happy to continue this dialogue.

Except in North Carolina where the citizenry is able to take out a warrant for arrest of an individual based off their own testimony. Basically, women just tell a magistrate you hit them and your going to jail after they swear on the bible it's true.

Thank god, there is a rational individual in this thread.

The circle-jerk going on here is sickening. This is clearly a scnenario in which the judge was attempting to "win." Had he exercised restraint and logic he might have responded to her disrespect with a 30 day sentence and allowed her to be escorted out of the court room to serve her punishement. Instead, he antagonized and enabled her behavior by continuing to give her an opportunity to respond and by "asking" her is she had anything left to say. You couch-judges are the type of people that enjo…

directly undermines that judge's ability to wield justice and their future credibility. What a complete and utter load of philosophically ignorant, illogical, and uneducated bull-shit. Please expound upon the manner in which her conduct might have limited his future judicial powers or the manner in which his credibility might be damaged. Exercising self-control and restraint of power is not the same thing as endorsing unacceptable behavior. To reference your inappropriate analogy of dog obedienc…

The woman may have need a strong denial, but that judge is just another egotistical, ignorant, prideful, ass-wipe willing to exercise his juducial authority to prove a point. It should constitute an extreme abuse of power to arbitrarily imprison a human being for an extensive period of time on the basis of their attitude and opinions when expressed in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others. This was nothing but a bull-shit example of a tryant "one-upping" her because he had th…
