Sure, some things have changed, but the vast majority of things listed are still accurate.

Oh that must be why American Indians are so powerful, wealthy, and respected in America! Oh wait...

I sort of doubt you actually want to learn what white privilege is, but if you do, here you go. http://amptoons.com/blog/files/mcintosh.html The list at the bottom is very specific.

I'm a young 20-something and that's what's going through my mind.

I think paying for dates is less about men's/women's rights, and more about showing personality. A man who pays for dinner is showing he's generous, kind, and maybe even well off. That's not to say a man who doesn't pay for dinner isn't one of these things, though. When a woman pays for dinner, IMO, it makes me think she's relatively new-age, liberal, possibly aggressive. Again, if a woman lets the man pay, it doesn't mean she's none of these things. I just think it's a way of learning about peo…

Just a quick question: I've seen a lot of people in r/mensrights referring to child support as perpetual slavery and all that. I have a lot of friends who are children of divorced parents, with their mothers as the primary care giver. From what I've seen, the mother pays for all incidentals and the cost of general care - utilities, food, birthday parties, clothing, doctor's visits, gas money driving the kid around, school supplies, everything to raise a child. The dad in one (fairly successful) …

Hey RedTornado, just wanted to say I thought your argument was well phrased and not the least bit "fallacious."

I agree. I look at people all the time, that doesn't mean I'm objectifying them. And I guess I don't see the jump between looking at genitals ---> objectification. In my mind, glancing at someone's crotch doesn't mean I'm objectifying them.

I'd imagine it's because the top of society is where the biggest inequalities lie. There are less female politicians, less female CEOs, and (although I'm not positive about this one) I would be willing to bet most of the wealthiest people in America are men.

Have you seen r/jailbait? Seems like they're objectifying women. There's posts on reddit all the time like "look at her boobs! She's so hot" etc. That's basically what that post in 2XC is.... Just talking about what men they find attractive.

The fact that she pointedly says "we're not having sex" proves to me that she was raped. Then she LITERALLY passes out, but he has sex with her anyways. I think the guy is responsible because he ended up having sex with an unconscious body.

No. However, I don't know any women who are, either.

Crummedyo, I upvoted you. I am so tired of people using the downvote feature to disagree. That's not how it works! Even if I may not agree with you, your input is a valuable addition to this conversation.

I think you've missunderstood what I was trying to say. First, I'm not really sure where you got the idea that I think raping drunk men is just fine since I've been agreeing that the rape of this guy was wrong. However, I disagree with you that this hypothetical girl would be partially at fault for her rape. Regardless of who is raped or what the circumstances are, rape is no one's fault but the rapist. I certainly don't think that this is only a woman's right, nor do I think that women should b…

Hmm... I can understand that rationale. However, I still think that if a girl gets raped while she's drunk, even if she's been in a similar situation before, that does not justify rape, or even make it her fault. However, a women who continues to put herself in that situation clearly lacks drinking skillz/common sense. It's like walking around in a sketchy area of town at night. A women should have the right to do it, but doing so greatly increases her chances of being mugged. If she gets mugged…

See, I don't think the idea that women should be able to get shitfaced drunk safely is mainstream at all. I'd say the majority of people think women shouldn't get shitfaced drunk at all. Many people right now are all in a tizzy because they think women are starting to become too 'wild and crazy.' I just read an article somewhere that college campuses were making groups for women who vowed to return to more antiquated dating ideals, ie waiting for the guy to ask them out and pay for dinner. And, …

People sometimes say something like "well, you shouldn't have been drinking..." or "you really shouldn't have put yourself in that situation." or even, "why didn't you fight him off instead of just saying no?!"

As I mentioned, feminism is about equality between the sexes. Therefore an unbalanced situation, regardless of which gender is benefitting from the imbalance, goes against feminist ideals. So, take for example the child custody laws. They're weighted in favor of women. However, the majority of women, including those who identify as feminists, would generally agree that this is unjust. Shared custody, 50/50, should probably be the norm. Unless this is deemed detrimental to the child, then the cou…

I'd agree that feminism is a women's movement... a movement to help women become equal to men in all aspects of society. They are not trying to make women better than men, or create an environment where women have life easier than men, rather that they are treated equally.

Feminism seeks to develop equality between the sexes, across all playing fields. Therefore, one goal of feminism is to hold men and women equally accountable for their actions.

When I was in high school we learned that "penetration" can mean a number of things in rape cases. As long as the act can be deemed "sexual in nature" it can be rape. So oral sex can definitely be defined as raped. tl;dr the guy is a rape victim. No "almost" about it.

Although I agree that those responses were totally wrong and uncalled for, I'd like to elaborate on your "I'd love to see someone say this in a feminism discussion" comment. First, he posted that thread in AskReddit, not in a men's rights forum, so the responses will be much more varied than if he had posted in Men's Rights. Just as if a woman posted a similar sexual assault story in AskReddit, she would most certainly get some comments that say "you shouldn't have been drinking in the first pla…

Rather than simply downvote you, I'd like to explain why I'm doing so. There is absolutely shame in being raped. If a victim of rape decides to tell someone she was raped, many people's first reaction is to blame the victim. Say the girl survived date rape by a fraternity brother at his house. People often think, and sometimes say, "Why were you at that party? Why were you drinking? Why were you talking to this guy? Didn't you notice he was bad news? Why were you dressed provocatively?" All thes…

This piece was so blatantly biased that it was impossible to take it seriously. I think it's absurd to read this piece without reading the original article in Time...
