This whole story is fake. Even if their degrees were from highly respected schools, they would have to go through reciprocity in which they will be heavily examined by a whole board of Nurses. It's impossible to be "connected" and avoid this entire process.
Well it's a lot more than just a multiple choice test. You're heavily examined by a board of veteran nurses and are required to pass highly technical practical examinations. The process doesn't end there either but there's no point in saying more. OP's story is made-up nonsense.

The USA is VERY VERY strict and standardized when it comes to Nurse Licensure; no way can you just buy a degree from another country and become a LICENSED RN through a mere internship. You would have to go through an intense reciprocity process even if the degree was from a reputable school abroad.
