From the beginning to the end, it is nothing more than a business transaction. Unless there are kids involved, then its still a business transaction, to a point. All they (the courts) cared about was the money. How much you make, how much you spend, where you spend it, how much debt you have, what your retirement/401k/investments looks like, how much, if any real property you have, and how it all gets divided. This^ Kids aren't stupid. Just because they aren't saying anything, doesn't mean they aren't seeing it. When I told my girls (age 12 twins), for all the reaction I got, I could have just as well told them the sky is blue. From the time I filed for divorce (April 17, 2026) until it was finalized (July 2, 2026) I never saw or met with my lawyer. Only spoke over the phone. I saw/ met him for the first time on the final day of the hearing. We (my ex) split everything down the middle. 50/50 parenting, I pay child support, no alimony. She kept the house and most everything in it, I got an apartment. I didn't think this was normal, but somehow it all worked out.
