I had stopped wearing mine a few years prior. I lost/forgot it at a park after a bad fight. Real bad fight. I said fuck it, never said anything, never replaced it, just to see if she would notice or care....she didn't. Silence spoke volumes.

Mine puts on a front. Publicly she makes it seem like she's doing awesome. Our daughter tells me a different story. Despite me paying support (we have 50/50) she is struggling financially probably because of her drinking. She yells at the kids constantly and they don't like engaging with her. They have no life other than some occasional family events. Our daughter has stopped telling her what we do when she's home. At the end of the day though it's not a competition, it's about raising a well ad…

Absolutely. She is the baby of the baby of the family. Going back to her maternal grandmother and paternal great grandmother, they treated people very poorly. I thought she was different. Now.....on my side it also wasn't good so to speak. My mother and my step father never fought. Never seemed upset towards each other. While that might sound nice, I didn't learn conflict resolution. So when there was conflict, I'd shutdown in my marriage.

Anger and wanting justice. We have a court system and not a justice system. It's a hard pill to follow and you are very understandably pissed off. As someone else said......practice stoicism. Read stoic works. It's not a silver bullet but it might help. Things suck man....... Don't let your ex get in your head and influence some possibly detrimental decisions.

You'll just have to buy the equity that you've built in the last 6 years. If there are intermingled assets, lawyers might make it messier. In addition to hiring a lawyer, I would look into an accountant that would be able to draw clean lines so the lawyers have less to argue about.

Document her mental health and substance abuse issues with something that can substantiate it. I was in a very similar situation with similar fears. You're going to be poor for a while. It is what it is. I'm also a median income, single earner. You'll have to get your house appraised and you'll have to either sell it to split it or you're going to have to refinance it to pay her out. You'll also lose half your 401k. We bought our house years ago when this was an affordable area, prices have sinc…

1)you're lawyer sucks and had some paralegal doa quick Google search and sent you one of the top results as an example. Even if he's right, the firm should have their own examples. Also....they should have better manners understanding the level of stress you're in and support you need. 2) shorter the plan, the better. Less to fight and argue about later because the other party "didn't understand" and tries to screw you.

I've found tons of better but that bar was pretty friggn low. I haven't found anybody I'm willing to risk or invest a long term relationship with. I've found at about the 6 month mark that those little warnings turned out to be red flags.

When my mom started dating my eventual step dad I thought it was weird and creepy (if we used that word) but eventually we got into a normal and healthy routine. He and my father never got along. Ex's owe nothing to each other in regards to meeting the new person, kids or not. If/when I ever date again I would never encourage my new partner to do anything with my ex. When my ex starts dating, I have no interest in meeting her new man. None of each others business.

Yup! I'll never marry or live with someone again. First sign of either of that BS I'm gone now. I will never deal with that shit again. Way to much self respect for myself now.

Doesn't matter. Look at reviews and do a ton of asking around locally. I went with a female and was sold on her "bitchiness" but she was only bitchy towards me. My ex was in violation of nearly everything during the process and she did nothing to enforce the temporary order. After the divorce was finalized (I still feel like it wasn't equitable but she sold me that it would cost more in awyer fees to go to trial) she still wouldn't enforce anything and came at me with an attitude saying that my …

It definitely should matter that she's already gainfully employed. All other marital assets should just be split down the middle. If you lose the house, you should be taking half the equity with you. Maybe even use that to leverage so she doesn't touch your retirement. As for the kids, 50/50 is more the default unless she can show there's a reason you shouldn't be an equal coparent. Go hard, respond that you want full placement, mandate the house be put on the market and you two split the profit…

A few weeks after our divorce was final we agreed on a date that she would come and collect items as outlined in our MSA. I should've never let her in the property. The movers already had a list of items of which everything was waiting in the garage. She essentially picked through and left a mess but also took a $1,500 designer table. I was livid (lots of bait and dwtich BS during the divorce) and asked my lawyer what to do. Got nothing for it. Thought about filing a claim with my home owners in…

Historically marriages were a dick....long and hard. Marriages were more of a social/political/financial contract and both viewed their role as a job to fulfill. The romantic Era eroded that and eventually found its way down to us common people after WWI. If both parties manage expectations and try to fulfill their roles, they will both be happier long term.

These posts never made sense to me. Say we pay $1000 per month on CS, this is going to be spent on housing, clothes, food and what have you. This means she has an extra $1000 per month she has that she can spend of her own money on frivolous or luxurious things. I say this as one who's paying support to someone that might be making more than me but only because of unreported cash gigs but more importantly as someone that was raised by a single mom who's dad would get pissed that we bought horse …

Mine refuses to work full time just because she gets support. What the courts don’t take into account is she is living willfully in her parents attic and pays no bills so she is effectively able to live off of the support and part time job despite me struggling to live like and adult.

I'm surprised how much I'm morning. People closest to me don't understand, heck I don't even understand. She was removed from the house for DV. Has since hurled allegations and threats towards me. She attempted to have a 4 year restraining order against me but was denied. She appealed it to go higher (which was fine with me) but her lawyer spoke sense to her and suggested a mutual NCO

My exwife effectively was homeless after she left. She initially crashed at her parents house until they tried to control her like a child. From there she had to rely on her new, fragile, support network of friends where she essentially couch surfed. She was working at the time and threw herself into her job. That was probably the best thing for her. She ended up going to school on the company’s dime and made a solid career for herself.

Many people confuse custody with placement. Here (WI) nearly all parents have joint custody but usually one parent will have either primary placement. Ideally there should also be split placement if things are equitable.
