My experience is that line of reasoning is used as an excuse for inaction, not a reason to act. If your experience is different, have at it. But the nature of a privilege much more likely is to use personal experience to pretend it doesn't existzm

I mean I feel you but isn't that the point of view of every member of every movement? Capitalists certainly believe in the purity of thier philosophy. Does that abstain them from having to take into account the reality of its effects? Whether is should be ignored or is bullshit is irrelevant. The reality of it is what is actually effecting change in the world.

Do you believe the majority of feminists in 2018 would support an organized movement by men and male politicians towards overturning those laws? Because it and any other societial ill that predominantly effects men doesn't seem to be knowledged by and large by feminists. That's been certainly the experience I have had with feminists friends, in observing the media or anywhere else one would look for proof of this call to complete gender equality. Agreed. Blaming the oppression of men on bad masculinity is not empowering and not helpful. It just comes off as a self-serving of making women remove themselves from their responsibility towards the treatment of men.

The entire base on your argument is wrong and it is wrong in every case. Men are not uniform group. They are a collection of individuals responding to an overlapping set of circumstances. No matter how big the subgroup.

I would venture to agree if so hadn't heard so many casual jokes about violence towards men from friends and media. I would love to see a deeper study on the perceptions of woman on man violence. Because I truly believe it is tacitly accepted.

It's more abstract, but I'd love more though on closing the "empathy gap," or the general culture of seeing men as less worthy of help or care. Its a slippery slope to declaring some sort of absolute male rape culture, but it is worth being made more tangible outside forums and blog posts. On the policy side though? Prison reform and making autism a male issue.

Of course I think that is wrong, for the same reason this exact same argument is ridicious when applied to black sentences, to the poor, and other groups assumed to be inheritedly dangerous. What your describing is an assumption that leads to countless citzens being jailed do to a trait they cannot control, and NOT simply on the facts of the case. I have not read this particular bell hooks book, though I have read some of her essays. I will say that the blurb you posted feels, for lack of a better word, patronizing.
