That must have filled up super quickly Doesn't matter if it all goes in one hamper or 4 separate ones, same amount of laundry. But yeah, growing up there was one hamper next to the linnen closet. Mom (SAHM) would take it down every other day or so to sort it into different bins in the laundry room for colors, whites, etc. When one of those was full, she'd wash that load.

Unless we know why they're not getting married we don't know if it's a good or bad thing. Being cautious is good reason, not being able to form a deep connection is not.

1) "But it's better than parents constantly arguing". Contrary to popular belief divorce does not mean the parents stop arguing, in some cases it becomes even worse. I don't think anyone believes having a divorce magically stops all arguing, especially not when the terms of the divorce have to be figured out. But it's a matter of fact that after the divorce the parents see each other a whole lot less, simply by not living in the same house anymore. There's so much less opportunity and reason for…

Then you don't get the concepts of pro life and pro choice. If you're pro choice, but in this case would choose to keep the baby, that shouldn't make you pro life.

You don't want to force people's actions, but if this were an option you'd go from pro choice to pro life. Which would force people's actions.

Same! I don't believe in love at first sight - that's lust - but there was an immediate attraction that turned from purely physical to love over time.

I think this might be a misinterpretation. Many people end up with someone who first was just a friend of them. That's not the same as fake-befriending them just to wait your chance to ask them out. If, in case of a rejection, you disappear from her life, you aren't actually a friend. Besides, women aren't a monolith. I will not apologize for some other women giving wrong/misguided advice.

I would say both working an equal amount of hours and contributing equally to the household IS equal contribution.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 11:50 PM
16

Because the laundry needs to be done now, and every few days in the future. Because you need to cook every day. Not ten (or however many) years ago. For me it's quite simply about who has most time left in their day.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 07:23 PM

OP is taking money earned as a starting point for who should do more in the house, I'm taking hours worked as a starting point. My partner and I both work full time. I pay my fair proportional share of the household bills (in in the case of me and my partner that's basically 50/50) and therefore will do about half of the chores, and not more.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 04:11 PM
9

SOLE income, I agree. But my argument is that if both partners work equal amount of hours, just one earns more than the other. If you're in a commited LTR, imo finances should be split proportionally and chores should be split 50/50 in such cases.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 04:00 PM
15

You're in a partnership. Amount of money earned does not always reflect the time and effort put into the work. I'd feel wholly uncomfortable if my partner would do more of the housework if we spend equal amounts of time and effort on our jobs, just because I earn more.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 03:55 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 03:55 PM

Worth a conversation to be sure - I think it's always a good idea to talk about division of household labour as it can often cause irritations between partners. But where amount of hours worked is pretty clear, physical and mental load is not. I doubt there's many people who think their job is super easy. So hours worked seems like a good starting point.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 02:58 PM
30

Physical and mental drainage is something to take into account, as is time spent commuting. Either way, I think we agree even if the one with the cushy desk job makes more money, doesn't mean the one with the physically demanding job should automatically do more housework because of that.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/24 02:46 PM
101

How much housework each partner does, imo shouldn't depend on the amount of income they bring in, but the hours they work outside the house. If both partners work full time, then both should contribute equally to the household chores, regardless if one brings home more money than the other.

if women do feel unsafe or uneasy about men going into the women's restrooms they surely would not want to go into the men's restroom where there's nothing but men that could possibly take advantage of them The women that might feel uneasy about men going into women's restrooms are usually not the same as the women who go into the men's restroom. Additionally, 99/100 it's the women's bathroom which has the huge line. I don't think there's nearly as much need for men to use the women's restroom a…

We're comparing not wanting to have kids with being blind or missing a leg now? One of these is clearly different than the others. Why is it so hard to understand that people have different preferences? Yes, historically most women in relationships had kids. Up until the 1950s, there was no way not to. After that, social norms were still dictating that that was the only thing you should do. We are finally getting to a time where it's ok to ask yourself if you want kids. After all, they have a hu…

Men shouldn't lie about wanting a relationship when really they want casual sex. That doesn't mean that if a man says he wants casual sex, the woman will want that too. It's not rocket science.

I'm late twenties and most of my friends aren't married. Most are in LTRs though. Not married doesn't mean single.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/24 06:21 AM

Yet you're asking others if they are married and if the answer is no you see that as proof of your argument. You're not asking others if they are in a committed relationship, you're asking if they are married. You're not married either.

Ex boyfriend. It was examples like this that slowly made me realize I could walk over him if I wanted to. That's not healthy, I don't want to have that kind of power over someone. (Currently in LTR with someone who is just as strongwilled as I am.)

With that said, I'd like to challenge any woman to give a SPECIFIC example of situation where they feel a guy was actually a pushover. Bf: was mad at me for something I did. I don't remember what exactly, but while he did have reason to be upset, he was taking it quite far. me: sheds ONE tear (doesn't say anything). bf: "I'm so sorry, all of this is my fault".

Id argue its a challenge to a raise a child with both people as well, since the likelihood of divorce is there and the child ending up being raised by a single mother is inevitable. Willingly becoming a single parent is absolutely not the same as the risk of divorce.

The other problem with “Nice Guys” is that theyre actually not nice at all. Yeah, for 80% of the 'nice guys' it's an act. "But I was nice to her, where's my sex?!" I would also like to point out the category of men who are actually nice, but literally nothing else. No personality. There's nothing wrong with them, but they will likely not be your soulmate. This applies to friends too, if you would describe someone as 'nice' and no other words come to mind, they are likely not your best friend.

I would reject him because he is redpilled. We have such different beliefs that we wouldn't work out long term. If this guy was blue pilled I'd probably still reject him. I find him quite attractice but I seriously doubt I'd have an intellectual connection to someone who posts shirtless pics for validation every week.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/23 10:08 AM

Nope that's not what it means. I enjoy sex because of the sex, no other motives.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/23 03:00 PM

Disagree, both your options mean basically the same: the other has to change. It should be "We tried, but it turns out we are too different and I don't see a future for us".
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/23 06:36 AM

The universal declaration of human rights is a pretty decent universal moral understanding. But if you're going to get philosophical about what morality is, why does a religion get to claim morality? Who determines that? Why do you get to say you have the moral high ground over me, simply because I'm an atheist? Why do you get to decide that? I would argue that if a religious person doesn't steal because they're told in their religion it's not allowed and might go to hell for it, that's actually…

Of course sex is a natural want that I think most people experience, both men and women. However, if you realize you are becoming frustrated due to a lack of sex through 'normal' means, it is important to realize that hiring an escort is a possibility. That's all. Sex isn't a resource, even if women do like sex. Everyone gets to pick who they have sex with. If that leaves someone without sex, they have the option to hire an escort, if they want to.

Not everything that is legal is moral. The law and morality are connected, but they are not always the same. It would be impossible for the law to always draw the line of morality at exactly on the right spot, as it depends on many factors. To counter your counter argument: I am not from the United States, that law has no effect where I live. It is also discriminatory based on age (which is illegal in my countries) and anti-democratic, as it takes choice away from the people. I would argue that …

What actually could be done (as many countries do) is to make anonymous sperm and egg donation illegal. This makes it so a child could always contact their parent when they turn 18. A law like that would get rid of your only argument that actually applies only to women who choose single parenthood through articifial insemination, and not to anyone who became a single parent in other ways.

I think one doesn't exclude the other. We should be clear about what we or a specific study identify/ies as sexual violence, but I think it's good that some studies focus on a very broad spectrum of sexual violence, while others take a more narrow approach and only focus on the worst types, like rape. We can recognize that receiving unwanted dickpics is not good, while also acknowledging that rape is a lot worse.

Positive reinforcement is great. It goes way too far to expect positive reinforcement for not doing something that is absolutely dispicable behavior and also illegal. Sex is great and beneficial, but not a need.

This is why I intentionally used the word 'intentionally'. If someone asks: "what are your intentions?" And the answer is: "let's just see how it goes", when they know it's probably not going to work, that is using somebody.

thinking they are looking for something deeper than causal sex and then feeling “used” when they don’t get it? why so called sexually liberated women say they love casual sex…but then cry about being “used” for casual sex. These two things are not the same. Please make up your mind. Indeed, women sometimes (naively) have sex with a guy because it means a lot to them, only to find out he doesn't feel the same way. (Then again: you can get a new glass, and it didn't sound like if at a later time he realized he wasn't going to use it again, he'd put in the dishwasher then). 'She's young and pretty NOW' is just such a terrible motivation to marry someone. If, as a young woman, you know a guy only wants to marry you because you're young and look good, run. You will get older (as will he, but somehow that doesn't seem to matter). If he doesn't love you for your personality, he'll just dump you when you get 'too old'. There's no point.

10 years age difference is a lot, although 21-31 is a much bigger difference than 29-39, due to different phases of life. Personally, the couple with the biggest age difference I know are 29 and 36, which is ok, but already quite a lot imo. For me, I would probably be ok with it if I really loved the guy, but it's not preferred. I like guys that are closer in age to me. My bf is a year younger than me.

Oh god yes. So many men here want a stay at home wife and look down on women with careers. If your wife staying home is part of a joint decision, you don't get to complain about alimony if the marriage falls apart.

She told me early in our marriage she would never leave NJ and I accepted that. I made it clear that moving was not up for debate, her choice was go or stay. Wow that's a dick move. Not at all an answer to my question so I'll ask again (3rd time btw). What if you and your wife disagree on how to achieve a certain common goal? What do you do? An example: your commonly defined goal is financial security and you're looking at buying a house. There are two options. You want to buy a cheap house, that is more remotely located. Your wife wants to buy another house that is more centrally located (closer to the kids' school, amenties, etc), but a bit more expensive. Her argument is…

/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/23 06:56 AM

I don't just mean in this particular case, in general. No way you can talk through everything that will potentially come up in decades time. And even if you discus goals, you can disagree on the best way to reach those goals. What do you do?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 11:00 PM
10

You like m stupid so you can boss over them and they don't realize what an asshole you are. Got it.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 10:53 PM
10

Ok, fair. But in years of marriage, there is bound to be several disagreements over things that were not talked about in the early stages of the relationship. Or things where you can simply go both ways, but you disagree over which way is best to reach those common goals. Does she just have to give in at the end of the discussion? Do you expect her to not even engage in a discussion and just let you decide?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 10:44 PM
12

Why be with me if she does not Because she is a human with a brain who can also make decisions? Why don't you trust her decisions every now and then?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 10:40 PM

Do you mean a wife should agree with the husbands goals in life, or if they should have the same goals in life? Those are two very different things.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 10:39 PM

That was OP's point, I was being kinda sarcastic. We have both supported each other through tough times in the past years and will continue to do so
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 03:55 PM

Didn't say that. But if you're truly so annoyed by people not believing you, maybe don't do it yourself. A bit hypocritical.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 01:47 PM
1

You're definitely not the only one to accuse people of lying here. But this is a rather extreme case: instead of saying you don't believe a particular story by a particual person, you say you don't believe anyone with different experiences than you. And if you have disliked people not trusting you, maybe you shouldn't be distrusting people yourself.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 11:12 AM

Maybe don't come to a debate sub if you automatically believe that anyone that disagrees with you or has a different experience than you is lying. Or actually, maybe go out in the real world some time and find out they are not lying.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 08:57 AM

I just think it's weird to swear off relationships altogether because he might stop cleaning at some point in time. Not all relationships last, but you have to take a chance because it's worth it. If it does go wrong, you deal with it when that time comes and break up if you have to.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/23 10:18 PM

That's your point of reference? Unless I can move out in under 12 hours I'm too invested? If he stopped doing his equal part, I'd have a conversation, like a grown up. And it takes a lot longer than 12 hours for the place to get filthy so I think I'm good with the moving out if I had to.

I really really don't misunderstand you, we just don't agree. If at any point in time we don't make each other happy anymore and break up, that doesn't mean I would've waisted time with him, it just means our time is up.

I don't have kids. I have a career and a LTR. No need to choose. Men (or any relationship for that matter) aren't a good investment, because that's not what's it about. I'm not with my boyfriend because it's a good decision financially. I'm with him because we make each other happy. I have a career because that's a good decision financially. In what way is it said that another study states a different study on a different type of primate showed different results with male monkeys being equally interested in stereotypical girl and boy toys? Why don't you read the study that was linked to me, as I did? Maybe then you'll actually understand my response.

it makes every conversation about men and women taboo because you aren’t “allowed” to discuss differences in gender behavior, You're most certainly allowed. But for most things discussed on this sub, it's mostly going to come down to smaller differences between men and women. People can have different opinions and experiences and unless you have hard data to back up a certain claim that 'men do this much more than women', debating it is pretty useless. And that hard data is quite rare.

Almost every single one of I’ve looked at has several methodological flaws and I never even went to college or took any kind of course on research. Lol. The person who admittedly knows nothing about methodology knows when studies are methologically flawed. Sure, Jan.

Ok, was not expecting that. But the study actually quite clearly states a different study on a different type of primate showed different results with male monkeys being equally interested in stereotypical girl and boy toys. The study was an interesting read, but it doesn't really address why this particular type of monkey should be so comparable to humans (as opposed to, for example, this other type of monkey).

Those are all assumptions. Content creation, freelance work etc could all easily be a fulltime job. You could even argue that the pressure of having to maintain your followers would be more mentally challenging than a steady 9-5 job.

Why does the way someone earns money even matter? I'd understand your hypothetical post a lot more if the deal was to not earn money at all. I could theoretically quit my fulltime job and go freelance, so I wouldn't have a steady income anymore, but I'd have AN income of my own.

I'm not sure. I value humor but I can't say my partner is exceptionally funny, or that I would want them to be. They are funny and have my type of humor though. Objectively speaking, both my and my partner are very average. What makes it exceptional is how much we love each other and care for each other, how well we know each other, etc.

Agreed. Disagreeing with each other is normal, and when it comes to your boundaries it should be expressed. If you don't, it will build up frustration. Absolutely not. Just think of the numbers. How many of the women will be in relationships? How many will be freaked out by you approaching them? How many will not be interested in dating? Be gay? Not have time to talk to you? Not be attracted to you? Etc, etc. Many more women will be freaked out by you randomly approaching them, than there'll be women you actually have a shot with. If you're comfortable with willingly doing that, I can add that to the list above with reasons not to date you.

You don't have to compete with the top few percent of men with big penises that know how to please women with fingers and tongue. Just caring about what the woman wants in bed and making sure she is satisfied already puts you ahead of a big group of men.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/22 06:31 AM

Yes they can, but many don't. So many men think PIV is the main event, and they'll stop once they've orgasmed without thinking twice about the pleasure of the woman. Being good with your fingers and tongue and making sure she is pleased will more than compensate for this. Also: there is such a thing as a dick that's too big and it hurts. PIV also hurts without proper foreplay.

We're talking about early stages of dating here. Why in the world would a woman clean the house of a guy she's dating? Why would anyone clean a house they don't live in (unless they were a maid)? I absolutely do not agree with you. The level of 'wifey' acts you expect entirely outweigh the level of 'manly' acts you expect. (And I believe in equality. Split the bill, split chores, etc.)

I think you see both in pretty equal amounts overall. But neither of us can prove what percentages of women and men do this, so this is a discussion without an end. Can we just agree that no one should blame an entire group for the actions of one person belonging to that group, and call it a day?

That depends on when they realize it. I would say that if someone has most things you're looking for, but not everything, to try to date them anyway. Just to see if what you thought was so important actually is in practice, or maybe it's not so bad after all. Doing that goes against your view of never settling. But please also respond to the rest of my previous comment.

That's an assumption. The 'fat loser' might just as well resent women or the world for not getting what he wants, or he might resent being single more than he would resent what he didn't get. He might grow as a person and realize someone's personality is more important than their weight. Look, everybody is allowed any standard they want, no matter how ridiculous. But having more realistic standards would definitly be better for everyone.

I'm not opposed to it in principle, but I don't think it would work in practice. The last thing I want to do is erode her boundaries where she doesn't want them eroded The wording you used (especially "got her to go skinny dipping"), definitely sounds as if this was not only your idea, but you had to convince / encourage her to do it, perhaps to the point she felt pressured. Sure: there are plenty of differences in cultures in regards to the traits we assign to a gender. But it's not like men who stay home with their children are considered women. wouldn't it make gender subjective? As in, one culture would consider you a certain gender, and another would consider you as a completely different one. Theoretically: yes. But our world has become pretty globalized, I doubt you'd be able to find cultures that are so radically different from one other. Biologically speaking, men and women have different body parts. Obesity definitely isn't always a choice. But I'm mostly confused about why you think specifically YOUR opinion is something that people should cater to. You're giving yourself too much credit. There are always people that will not be attracted to you, no matter how hard you try. You can be a supermodel and there will still be plenty of people like "meh, I prefer blondes". I would say yes, scenario 1 is salvageable. I seriously doubt it. He's over and over making the decision to spend time with her, because he has feelings for her. Being found out doesn't change that. I don't think I could trust someone who chooses to date someone behind my back ever again. He could say he'd stop seeing her, but he lied about that before so can you trust that? Honestly, I am more likely to eventually forgive in scenario 2, as it's ONE really stupid decision, not continued betrayal…

1 is worse. Two is one REALLY stupid decision, but the first is a continued violation of my trust, even if it doesn't involve sex.

I don't intend on becoming a SAHM. I think we couldn't afford to have one parent not work, but if we could, I'd had no issue with my bf being that parent, if it's something he'd want. More ideally though: I want a relationship where all tasks, including parenting, is a much as possible divided. I want a world where daycares and schools don't automatically call moms when there's an issue. Where it's also ok for dads to take time off work to care for children. Where dads don't refer to taking care…

Yeah I agree with you. Dating multiple people is all perfectly fine in early phases, but once you're actively trying to build a serious relationship it's quite counterproductive. In response to OP about women's backup plans: I definitely don't have a plan B, C etc (and I've never heard of friends that do either). You think love is a joke? It's not love, it's early stages of dating. You have an initial connection with someone and are exploring if there could be love and a long term thing. Not so hard to like two people at once like that. Do you think it's absolutely fair to reject a person and then reapproach them It's shitty to be someone's second choice. But what is so bad about letting the guy make that choice for himself? He can reject her. He could also just understand that he was leaving and not min…

Didn't mommy teach you that staring is rude? Yeah it's a free world. You can do all sorts of things that most people would find rude. Doesn't mean you should. Ever went up to an ugly person to tell them how ugly they are? You can do that, no laws against it. But it's common decency to NOT do that. Also, the question was about complimenting private parts, not the staring.

/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/21 09:54 PM

I've had that happen and it was weird. You don't give a compliment unless you've given that something a good look. A quick glance at someone's boobs or bum is sort of ok, but anything longer than that isn't. Complimenting boobs or bums is admitting you were staring.

A man taking on women and children as his self is quite the fucking burden. A woman being reduced to 'wife of' and no longer being her own self (since apparently the husband is that now) doesn't sound particularly appealing either. Can we just agree this crazy fundie stuff is outdated?

Me? There's no underwear standard for men. Why am I not surprised?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/21 05:59 PM

When a woman wears a skirt or dress, sometimes it happens that her panties are visible; Unless the skirts are way too short, how? Anyway, it's not unheard of for dress codes to contain standards for undergarments. Is it? I've never heard of it. Even if you do get a choice of two, you don't mind your employers knows what kind of underwear you wear? That you don't get to pick what material you prefer? That you don't get to pick the model that's most comfortable for you (there's many more than 2)? …
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/21 05:45 PM

That makes no sense. Rules about dressing professionally, sure. But why would they make rules about what's underneath and not even visible? Pretty fucked up.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/21 05:21 PM

First wear a thong yourself, then make judgements on how (un)comfortable they are. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Seriously, it's nothing like a wedgie. They're very comfortable and I much prefer them over other types of underwear.

I honestly wouldn't know. But if I can't predict my feelings in a completely hypothetical situation, I doubt a strange man on the internet who doesn't know me can.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/21 07:41 AM
6

I don't. I am financially independent from my bf and I have every intention in the world to keep it that way. Also, there is a big difference between taking care of the kids and the household vs literally doing nothing, as was the premise here. If I would earn enough for the both of us and he'd want to be a stay at home dad, I'd be perfectly fine with that.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/21 07:39 AM

I contribute 50% financially and do 50% of the household. But that's not the main reason my bf is with me.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/21 07:30 AM

Because you can love someone and still realize things aren't working out between the two of you.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/21 07:27 AM

Yes. I'd be very annoyed with him. I definitly wouldn't pay for him to do literally nothing for 3 years. I honestly might break up with him, but not because of a lack of love.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/21 07:17 AM
6

It's only an act of love if you actually love your partner. All of these things (who does the cleaning, cooking, work) come second to finding someone you love. You're not with someone because they cook for you (I hope). I also love it when my boyfriend cooks for me, but it's not the reason I love him.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/21 07:08 AM
11

Not to mention that most people are in relationships because they love someone and want to spend time together, and to emotionally support each other. Not because (pulls out calculator) 'the time she spends on cooking and cleaning is roughly equal to the money I bring home by working'.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/21 06:39 AM
8

I see no reason to be exclusive to a partner who can't or don't want to provide the same for me This is the main reason for me. I can get polyamory or open relationships, as there the lack of monogamy is equal. Hard pass on my guy being with multiple partners but I'm not allowed to do the same.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/21 07:32 AM

girl that doesn't care about her appearance It all depends on what exactly you mean by this. Does this mean no full face of make-up every day? Easy enough. But on the other end of the scale, a girl (or any person) who REALLY doesn't put any effort into their looks (unwashed, uncombed hair, bad clothes, etc), is unlikely to be considered 'naturally beautiful' by anyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/21 08:39 AM
7

I think you're misunderstanding me: 50/50 is the goal, not the minimum. But men 'not having a problem being around their kids' is not at all the same as them shouldering 50% of the care of said kids.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/21 07:02 AM
15

A lot of men have no problem being around their children I would hope that everyone understands that if you do have a problem being around kids, maybe don't have kids yourself. What you're describing is the bare minimum, not 50%.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/21 01:06 AM
5

Obviously a date is not a lifetime commitment.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/21 08:59 PM
8

That clearly depends on what you see as traditionalism. In my opinion, if you are looking for a woman who will stay at home with the kids and will do the household, while you are working, that is a pretty damn traditional relationship. A woman who wants to have a relationship like that will likely expect a man to pay for the date, as that is logical for a more traditional relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/21 08:54 PM
12

Ok: there are women who aren't traditional, but do enjoy it if a man pays for the date. But I really don't get your argumentation. If the goal is to date traditional women, not paying for the date seems like a pretty good way to scare off any traditional woman from wanting to keep on dating you.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/21 08:46 PM
3

So wrong.. Most cases would be middle ground.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/21 12:43 PM
9

Agreed. Seems like many people here think that there are only two options: 1: never show any emotion 2: lay all your serious trauma out there on date 2 (and expect them to support you through it all). If a woman says to show more emotion, she doesn't mean option 2. Obviously, supporting eachother is essential in a relationship, but there's only so much a partner can do if their SO refuses to seek the help they need.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/21 12:16 PM

As someone else here said: it's a lot about a comparable history. Knowing how much I've learned from previous relationships, Im more interested in someone who also had those kinds of experiences. I can imagine people with extensive dating experience could be intimidating for you and you'd actually prefer someone also less experienced.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/07/21 02:45 PM

Partially, yes. But someone can fall in the 'ideal' range of sexual partners without having had a serious relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/07/21 09:29 AM

It's not really the amount of sexual partners that would matter to me, maybe more the experience in relationships ifself. If someone is 30 and has never been in a serious relationship, I would consider that a bit of a red flag. Usuually first relationships are very educational, they teach basic relationship skills like communication. Hopefully they've learned a bit from any mistake they've made and they usually know much better what they are looking for in a relationship.

You must live in such a bubble if you truly believe that (given the possibility) all men want the same. Or just arrogant that you really think all men must want what you want. It's never like that. 100 different people want pretty much 100 different things in life. You might be able to generalize a bit that a small majority might want similar things, but that's about it. /r/PurplePillDebate02/07/21 08:36 AM

That's a whole lot of generalizations, stereotyping and presumptions you are making to get to 'men's ideal dating strategy' and 'womens ideal dating strategy'. Especially the male one, I doubt even 30% of men would actually see that as an ideal.

I honestly would not want to go on a second date if he wouldn't let me pay half. I can carry my own bag, I'm not weak. That's what being independent means to me.

Yeah same for me. I'm in a LTR with someone I want kids with, but that's just not working out yet. He recently graduated uni, I'm about to. We'll have to work hard for a few years and if we're lucky, we can buy a house and have some of our studentloans paid off. I think this article gives a good perspective on these types of discussions. Context: in March, Sarah Everard went missing in London. As a response, police told all women to just stay inside at night. Since advice that like is so normalized, women ridiculed it by suggesting a curfew for men instead (like: why should the potential victims stay inside instead of the potential attacker). Sarah was found dead a week later, the main suspect is actually a policeman.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/21 07:31 PM

what i expect from women is that they are cautious The word 'expect' actually angers me. You don't get to expect things of me. I don't know you and I make my own decisions.

So, there's supposed to be 8 major dealbreakers, but he only mentions 4 (of which I already disagree with at least 2). What are the others? You can't make a point of how so few women don't have dealbreakers and therefore dating sucks, if you don't tell us what kind of dealbreakers these are. Is it: 'she's not a supermodel' or 'she can think for herself'? We don't know.

Legality is not the same as morality, which is what we were talking about. I also don't understand why you keep directing your speech to me. I never said I wanted cops to protect me at all times, neither that I feel unsafe.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/21 12:56 PM
4

If someone's life is in danger I think it's pretty safe to say laws are being broken --> therefore it would be a cops job.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/21 12:23 PM
3

No duty to protect an individual is not the same as there being absolutely no legal requirements with regards to how policement have to do their job. Maybe not under criminal law, but perhaps under their employment contract. Either way, as I have said this also depends on where you live. I live in a country where police have to do at least 4 years of training, for example.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/21 09:35 AM
2

He's not legally obligated to though that's my point Obviously there is a large gray zone where action/inaction would depend on the individual cop, but I'm guessing/hoping there must be some sort of negligence provision if cops consistently don't do their job? Next to that, it would be a huge improvement if cops get proper training in (amongst other things) de-escalating situations, rather than just shooting their gun the second they feel threathened.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/21 08:50 AM

If they do is a different question to if they should (and the answer to the first question also depends on where you live).
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/21 08:24 AM

If I'm a cop, I'm not going to risk my life and career to save someone. Well if we're talking about cops specifically, I actually would argue that if that's your job and what you are being paid for, you do have a moral obligation to help people. Obviously within reason, but if you're going to 'show up after' because it might be dangerous for you, you just shouldn't be a cop.

The post title literally says 'in dating and romance'. But I'll humor you: do you think not listening to the women you want to date will help in getting to date them? Really?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/21 07:22 PM

you changed it to 'specifically a particular woman you are dating'. that was the question OP asked. I didn't change anything.

Thinking the first move / expression of interest needs to come from men. (Fueled by fear of rejection) I only once had the courage to make the first move with a guy I liked; we've been together for almost 5 years now.

1: I wish it was just one individual. I have met my fair share of creeps by now. 2: I never said I conclude that all men are creeps. Most aren't. But I have nothing to gain from chit chatting with a man. Why take the risk?

Victim blaming. Plenty women here have explained already that there is not much we can wear that wouldn't be considered sexy or provocing by some men. Clearly, it's men who are the problem here. I know that my sheer EXISTENCE provokes some men. Should I just stay at home for the rest of my life, so you can't accuse me of provoking men anymore?

I can back up her story. For me not at 10, but just a bit older at 12-15. I was catcalled sooo often at that age, by men 3-4 times my age. Much more often than now I'm a grown woman. My parents had no idea of any of this, btw. I'm hoping your daughter doesn't experience it, but just because you're not aware, doesn't mean it isn't happening. I honestly think you are living a blissfully unaware male life. Seriously, ask your closest female friends. Every woman I know has stories like this.

Honestly I find some women disgusting who think a basic hello or chit chat is a sexual motive or advance. Unfortunately, the last time I though "oh this guy just wants to chit chat a bit, no problem", he ended up being a major creep that followed me home for the next 20min, even though I told him several times to stay away from me (first nicely, but progressively less so, even threathenend to call the police). I really REALLY want to assume that everybody is nice until they've proven otherwise, …

Fidelity shouldn't be conditional. That is contradicting the definition of the word: "fidelity: faithfulness to a person, cause or belief, demonstrated by continuing loyalty and support". and again: cheating is a severe breach of trust and confidence. If there are underlying issues in the relationship which causes them to not have sex, cheating is just not going to help that.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/21 04:12 PM
10

Answer: If a man's wants are not being met, then he has no obligation to meet his partner's wqnts. A man should put the fidelity on pause until steps are taken to address the problem and sex resumes. "Yes, let's cheat because I want more sex. That will fix my relationship." EDIT: On a more serious note: sexual frustrations in a relationship are very annoying (and something both men and women can deal with, btw). But cheating is just not going to make that better, only worse. Either there are und…

I don't think a number alone would be a dealbreaker. But high numbers (20+) could be indicative of things that would be a dealbreaker for me. Not respecting women, never commiting to a relationship, etc. I would never even ask for someones n count (who does that?!), but I would look out for signs.

Louisiana was just an example, but this applies to any other statistic. Like how Austrians find 7 sexual partners too conservative (when their average sexual partners is below that), or how the Netherlands has the lowest number for what they think is promiscuous, but also the second highest average sexual partners. I realize that you did not present this study as 'the abolute truth', but I think everybody should be very careful in broadcasting things like this. While you might be aware of its fl…

Countries represented by fewer than 10 respondents and states represented by fewer than five respondents were omitted from results. For all we know, Louisiana's 'average n-count' is based on 5 respondents (quite plausibe actually, since 9 states failed to reach that ridiculously low bar) The methodology sucks. 2000 sounds like a lot of people, but if isn't a representative sample even that doesn't mean much. The results being quite surprising only shows that we shouldn't be trusting them at all.

Well, if you don't talk ever to girls, it makes sense you're not having sex with them. And if you don't talk to girls, how would you know if they're having sex and who they're having sex with? This is just your sad incel-ish view of the world from your very narrow perspective.

men want women who want a family but can't find any because women nowadays are independent and have careers. It seems like you're making this line between on the one side women who want kids and want to be homemakers, and women who do not want kids and what a career and be independent instead. I would personally say that the largest group of women wants both kids and (a degree of) a career and financial independence. You're accusing me of cherry-picking the article yet you conveniently did not even cite the full section. Oops that's my bad, didn't read it carefully enough (it's late and I've had a few drinks). I apologize. I only made a claim about selectivity. Hypergamy is a hypothesis based on the supported selectivity. Do you have another explanation for the discrepancy? This was explained in the post as an important point. There was no cherry-picking. You did not include that in your post. I have read it. Because of that, you do not need to copy-paste things from your post. I've read that too. However, I believe your claims regarding hypergamy are completely baseless, making this about womens choices of sexual violence. does not classify rape of men by women as rape, you're adding the 'by women' part. This report does not specify the gender of the attacker. It can be men too. I understand it makes sense to differentiate between 'being penetrated' and 'forced to penetrate'. They are different things. Why one is classified as rape and the other is not? I absolutely do not believe that rape of men is 'not as bad' as rape of women, and it absolutely deserves more attention as it is often overshadowed and male victims face different issues. From the NISVS that you've linked: • "Nearly 1 in 5 women (18.3%) and 1 in 71 men (1.4%) in the United States have been raped at some time in their lives, including completed forced penetration, attempted forced penetration, or alcohol/drug …

They don’t ask. They just do it. Even when you tell them not to, they do it. Then they guilt trip you. Then they whine. Then they do it when you’re not home. Women can’t help themselves. That's quite a bold statement to base on that one week you lived with one woman.

There are about a million reasons someone wears a specific outfit. Fashion, temperature, comfort, personal style, etc. Yes, wanting to show off your body is one of them. But in my view, for many women, that is quite low on the list. That is something we clearly disagree on. Would be nice if you could simply acknowledge I'm not automatically lying because I don't agree with you. Also, things like men staring at boobs are much more related to the size of the boobs than the clothes, if you ask me.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/20 06:58 PM

Why is it so hard for you to believe that someone sees the world in a different way from you? That you are so convinced that your view is the only one and that because I'm disagreeing with you I must be lying?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/20 06:32 PM

Disagreeing with you (on a debate sub) doesn't mean I'm being difficult. It also doesn't mean I am lying or denying these 'thruths'. I simply disagree with you.

I'm just catching him in his lies. That's not harrassing. Also, I don't wear clothes like the example used. OP stated earlier he doesn't care about revealing clothes, he cares about women lying about their reasons for wearing them. Having established he can't know if they are lying (which he agreed with), turns out it is the clothes that bother him. Fine by me, but why lie about it (oh, the hypocrisy...)
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/20 05:43 PM

It's hot and I'm wearing revealing clothes. That's all you know. I MIGHT be lying. True. But you say it's not your job to investigate if I'm lying. So why not just trust me? Why would you then qualify me as a hypocrite, because you think I'm lying about why I'm wearing revealing clothes, when you say you…

I will repeat it because you did not answer me. How do you know these women are hypocritical about it? How do you know that someone is wearing revealing clothes, really because she wants to wear revealing clothes, but she says it's because of the weather? I think what you are describing, and what I believe too, is that it's more about compatiblity. I don't think it's really the n count that matters, but what that represents. If someone remained a virgin because they think it's important to save themselves until marriage, yet the other has a relatively high n count, they probably wouldn't work out. Not all women think the same, we are individuals. Please realize that any generalizing statement on this will be wrong. My two cents: dressing up and looking nice, even if not purely for herself, does not mean a woman wants to be objectified. There is a difference in thinking a woman is beautiful or sexy and sexually objectifying her to just her body. I think few women want to be reduced to walking boobs with a vagina.

Someone I'm comfortable with (hard to define, but no creep and humor helps) That's the bare minimim. All other things, like having the same goals in life or being compatible in the long run, take time to figure out. I'll figure that out while we're dating.

I agree. It may not be the option for you, but to disqualify it as an option altogether is weird. It's also not illegal everywhere. See map

Wrong. And even if true, why would you care?

I think the type of porn you are describing is much more utopian than my relationship. Porn is acted, nothing about it is real. The moans are probably not even from actual enjoyment. I have a great sex life, but it's nothing like porn. If porn is such an example for sex for you, why are movies not the same for love? So many movies with a great depiction of love, imo way more realistic than porn. and are very invested in not being emotionally dependent this might be why you struggle to find fulfi…

FWB is two people who are probably friends, but probably not best friends, who have sex. That's it. In my experience and from what I"ve heard from friends, it is mostly just the sex and a bit of hanging before the sex. Hardly ever hanging out together without sex. A relationship (and specifically a LTR) is love. No one knows me as well as my partner does, even though I have close relationships with friends as well. There is no shame, no secrets, no judgment. A lot of trust. As close to unconditi…

FWB is extremely different from an actual relationship. If you would understand that, you might actually see the added value of a relationship as opposed to just sex with someone.

I get all of your points, but then my question remains: why look for a relationship?? If sex is the only benefit you see to a relationship and all other parts of a relationship you can get elsewhere, look for a FWB, or an escort or prostitute for all I care. But if you are in a relationship purely for the sex, that's something I really really don't understand.

I agree with all you've said. Just wanted to add that I think it's sad that OP is claiming violence against women by partners is going down based on just an example. There are also plenty examples of countries where this is actually going up. Example: US

So if he gets the best of both worlds, why should he settle So why would that not apply to women? Are you actually saying you want to sleep around but then end up with a virgin?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/20 07:12 AM

If you have decided to remain a virgin until marriage because you want to have all your firsts with the partner you're gonna end up with, then I get it. (But you don't HAVE to be with a women that has a sexual past, that's up to you). But if you are also having sex with others before settling down, you are a hypocrit from expecting different/higher standards from women.

I was assaulted in a supermarket, during the day, with lot's of people close by. Dressed very modestly. And yet this persons mind when he hears sexual assault goes straight to 'slutty' girls out partying, drinking and doing drugs...

Why do some people people commit murders? Why do some people rape? Why do some people falsely accuse people of rape? Because some people suck. I really don't have a better explanation for it. Falsely accusing someone of rape is horrible and I really don't know why someone would do that.

I can honestly say the same for the men here. But since the main difference between you and me is that I can admit that women sometimes are those things, you seem to think it's women only and (almost) never men. So who exactly lacks introspection of the two of us?

If you say so. I don't think those attributes are more prevalent in one gender over another.

Interesting how a question about female hypergamy is directed to men.

That would be ridiculous. I would say in maybe 97% of breakups both are to blame. Maybe one a bit more than the other, but one being completely blamefree is almost non-existent.

I think you are forgetting about a large proportion of single moms Woman F: got married, had a kid. Got divorced because the marriage simply did not work out anymore, both parties are to blame.

It's just such a weird question to me, almost like asking what the difference is between a ONS and LTR. The answer is obviously almost everything. I have really had it with the AWALT thing in general. Some women do mean shit, sure. But if someone is so convinced of AWALT, why are they even trying to get with women? They must really strongly dislike women. And then they are almost surprised that their AWALT-narrative does not get them laid. Like, wtf. Anyone, please explain because I just don't u…

What is the motivation for men to wait for sex for like a few months or something over having a 1 night stand That question kind of implies that all men are after is sex. If men really were only after sex, the ONS seems to be the way to go. A relationship, or trying to build a relationship is just completely different in every way. It's getting to know someone on a deep level, becoming ones support system, doing all kinds of fun things together. It includes sex, but it is far far more than that.…

If she doesn't want sex with you and you do want sex, just break it off. Don't pressure her. Why is that so hard? I'm not saying you should be miserable or put her happiness above yours.

I’ve noticed that some women (not all) who say they won’t hook up tend to be willing to once they realize your willing to drop them Soooo, your pro tip is to pressure women into having sex? Great advice. /s

So, you are so deperate for sex that if you like a girl, and she seems to really like you too, but you don't have sex on the third date (when for all you know she wanted to, but was on her period), you break it off? Really?

Would that not depend on how long you've known him? If I just started seeing somebody it can just be too soon to meet friends.

I hate the term 'relationship material', it's not a thing for me. If a guy can make me happy, he is relationship material. He might not be for someone else. I agree with u/ItIsnt0verYet. I have had casual sex with some guys as a one night stand, but when I was dating someone I actually liked, I didn't have sex with them immediately most of the time. I did not necessarily have a rule on this, sometimes you don't feel like sex, are on your period, have an early morning the next day or whatever rea…
