I should probably have listened more carefully when she told me how her mother should have divorced her dad but didn't.

Talk to a lawyer before you say anything else to her. Some things you are saying could count against you in court. Just shut up, let your lawyer do the talking, and insist on your rights in terms of custody and finances.

Yes, signs... I think back now to when our daughter was around 2, I think, anyway too young to sit up reliably on a moving platform. My wife took her to a playground and put her on one of those merry go rounds, she was holding on to her she says until some other woman with an older child pushed the merry go round too fast, and my wife STEPPED BACK AND LET GO instead of grabbing and stopping the merry go round. Our daughter fell to the ground. When she told me about this she started with "you'll …

My E European wife seemed all cool until her crazy aggro behavior came out when elder daughter was about 4 resulting quite directly in our daughter going to the ER with minor but permanent facial damage. At least she didn't die. That was my wake up to realize I wasn't protecting her by trying to go along with my wife's behavior. I had thought I was in the relationship for better or worse but I hadn't calculated on worse involving harm to the girls. We're separated now and have 50/50. I have the …

Well... My ex is someone lacking empathy and I do see some of this pattern in one of my daughters but not the other. Anyway, I have both the daughters to think about and I feel I have to help them get the best out of the hand I played a big part in dealing them. To be honest reluctance to navigate the stepmother dynamic right now plays a bigger role than "not having faith".

Budget a lot of money for regular conversations with lawyers from now on, it will still be cheaper than not preparing, and it will take time and money to get the answers you need in your situation. Just understanding your options in your individual situation (employment, etc) can be challenging

I'm very far from you geographically, but what keeps my girls (5 and 7) happy is mainly hanging out with other people who have kids their age. With all the divorces and separations going on, there should be more support groups for those of us in this situation. It's hard because we view it as something shameful, but i think that's a way forward.

When do you hand off? Are these based on the nights (so the one who has Mon/Tue drops up school on Wed morning) or some other way?

Third paragraph is silly. If they act differently when you have young children, most men would not walk out for obvious reasons. The law gives them no consideration for this.

Depending on where you are, repeating these accusations often, especially in the presence of the children, could constitute various offences, such as emotional and psychological abuse and/or parental alienation. If she's talking about divorce she's considering it and it may well materialize It would be worth 1. Getting a recommendation for a good lawyer with experience in high conflict situations (not the cheapest or one who sees this as a routine matter). 2. Having an open and detailed conversa…
