Always dehumanizing. That’s the goal with every single one of these statements. Remove our humanity first.

You’re entitled to want and not want whoever as friends. But as a gay man, I am only interested in 5% of men. 19/20 aren’t attractive to me at all. And, I’m happily married. My male friends, all of whom are straight, aren’t uncomfortable around me and don’t feel uncomfortable around me. And haven’t for years. You wouldn’t know I was gay if I didn’t tell you, anyway. I’m a rural man, love weightlifting and sports, like anime and video games. I blend in with everyone my age who’s straight. If you …

I just hope the women who talk that way someday realize it hurts the men in their life to hear it. I’ve had to push back pretty hard against female friends for talking that way.

At least she took the mask off. He needs to leave and completely cut contact. This isn’t just a misunderstanding - she’s shown him she sees him as a resource, not a human.

Men often need their problems actually solved to feel better. And therapy, which is made for women primarily, doesn’t often solve problems in any way. Men aren’t the problem in not “seeking help” - the tools available utterly fail to help most men. And then, women shame men both for seeking and not seeking help. But God forbid you pay for therapy and it doesn’t help you - you are ALWAYS the problem in their eyes.

Total bullshit. Men who show their anger are fired and imprisoned. Women who do worse are celebrated.

Because they can get away with it. It’s a power play.

People miss this situation when talking about systemic sexism. Who has direct power in your world is so important. In your case, only having female managers absolutely creates an imbalance of power and respect which makes an unfair environment. I’m glad your manager is at least tolerable.

My response is to say that yes some men do, just like some women do. This doesn’t erase the issue or remove each persons responsibility to treat other humans with respect and work to fix systemic sexism. Women need to hold themselves accountable just like men, and finger pointing here does absolutely nothing to absolve them. Many women in this context also talk about systems of power, and really change on this issue starts by humans choosing to care and support male victims, then changing those …

It’s disgusting but it’s real. There are an incredible amount of women who hate men that much.

Yes, this place will eventually be either banned or colonized. Happens every time. Men are not allowed to have their own spaces

I think a lot of women who are assaulted report that they don’t feel taken seriously. I respect that and believe that. I just think it’s harder for men and we’re treated worse. Please keep in mind even if some women do have the world stop for them when they report sexual assault (real or false), there are many who suffer and aren’t treated well. This isn’t a 0 sum issue IMO. Worse for men, but everyone deserves to feel hear.

They want to systemically remove every protection they can from us. It’s disgusting. And it’s wrong.

As a gay men myself I’ve dropped friends over hate for many reasons. I would for hate of men, just like hate of any other group.

I am a man with borderline personality disorder and even I have a more rational/less emotional than 90% of the women I know. No shade either. Most men are more rational than me, so the gap between how men and women think here must be huge.

Thank you for being aware of the issue. There are so many wonderful people, men and women, in this world who care about those around them and treat them well. Don’t let a bad rolemodel ever make you feel doomed. You’ll see you can make the world better just by being a kinder person than she is.

Life is good. I have a lot of good people and friends and hobbies. Financially we are doing well. Got some nice time off, and my job isn’t that bad. I have Borderline Personality Disorder, which can make any day a dramatic flare up. But that doesn’t mean that life is bad. Or even the day. I can work through my moods. Currently in bed relaxing after work with my wonderful doggie, while my even more wonderful husband makes me dinner. He doesn’t work, he takes care of everything else, and I work. L…

Would you tell your kids to run towards the bear or the stranger they encounter in the woods? There is a massive, massive gap between “I don’t trust people” and “I’d rather risk a bear”. I don’t know how you’re not getting this. Saying any woman would be right to pick a bear over me says any woman is right to assume I, or any man, is a monster. That’s what my friend is telling me. “Well once they get to know you, they’d see you’re a good one!” Is the type of excuse bigots use when they justify t…

Because she is either saying that any given woman would be right to choose the bear over me (I am a monster, just a friendly one when you get to know me) or would be right to choose the bear over most men but I’m an exception (I’m not a real man). Saying pick the bear means men are monsters, and even if some men might me be friendly monsters, we’re still monsters. It’s the same logic as saying “most of your kind are bad, but not you” in regards to race or religion or sexuality.

As a gay man who had a female spring this on me and was fanatically pro-bear, I wish she’d just tell me which one it is: A) She doesn’t see me as a real man, so there’s nothing to be scared of. Men are monsters. B) She sees me as a monster but one of the friendly ones. Any other woman would be right to fear me and choose a bear. Men are monsters and so am I. You can qualify and justify your bigotry however you want. “Well no not all men are monsters it’s just the risk is too high that a bear is …

Well, men aren’t a monolith. This is a space for all types of men to share their problems and seek support and care. Different men face different challenges and want different solutions. So yes, you’ll see lots of contradictions here. I bet any given political issue would be the same - this is a diverse place.

I am so tired of “try therapy” when I express any negative emotions to my so called friends. Maybe I want someone who cares about me as a human to listen to me and empathize? Maybe I want you to care? Maybe we together should be able to talk through possible solutions? But instead, I get the cop out. Men and women do this. Not everyone, not the good ones. But when people go for this it is so clear they don’t want to deal with my feelings then why should they get the benefits of my friendship?

There are plenty of wonderful women in the world who love the men in their lives. I didn’t think that needed to be said. The fact that a significant portion are sexist and hateful matters. Just like the fact that there are scumbag men, too. We can call out both types of bad people without decrying the entire sex. I’m not gonna add #NotAllMen or #NotAllWomen to posts about my feelings lol.

Respect to be clear isn’t subservience or difference. It’s just kindness and care. I want to call this out because some people will miss characterize what this means.

This happens all across the world everyday. Women have unilateral authority to kill their babies before birth, and many use it in a sexist way.

But that’s what they want. They want men to be slaves, pawns, and hate sinks. They openly want us to center our entire lives around them in all situations. I am a gay man with my husband and brother as my closest people. And I still see women, and men, all over the world who think I should center every thought, every action, every part of my identity, on women. I love the women in my life and they love me. But we don’t center our entire existences around each other. But that’s how feminists view…

Never forget they hate you. This is about the small amount of men who are violent. They say it is, and they are lying. They want to demoralize men across the board, treat us as second class citizens, lead us to failure in education and work, make us scared of false accusations, make us want to never have a family. Why? They want to control you.

Women just do not care about men as a class. They may care about the men in their personal lives. But if 10% of men committed suicide on the next 10 years they absolutely wouldn’t care at all. Women have no ability to feel empathy for men and no desire to build it. They enjoy that men do all the physically dangerous work and that men are the only ones to be drafted.

Thanks for sharing this. It’s so true. I have no hate for anyone, but it’s important to give credit where credit is due. And here, gay men fought hard for recognition and acceptance, and now we’re abused within our own spaces.

As a gay man this is humiliating. That type of shit literally undoes the progress we’ve made, because it cheapens us and reduces us to a gimmick. I just want to be a human and be given a fair shake - no special privileges, no unfair abuse. When gay people face increased prejudice in 25 years compared to today, this type of stuff will part of the reason. The focus on different rather than what makes us the same.

Is this normal for your sister? Or was this way out of line? I’d immediately talk to your parents about this. I don’t see this differently than your 17 year old brother punching you over something stupid. I was that younger brother. I’m lucky my other brother was patient and forgave me. Our relationship is good now 14 years later. You are entitled to react however you want. I’d just ask if this is her norm or if it was the most bizarre thing she’s ever done. It may be worth continuing the relati…
