The guy who is attracted to her, but still accepts a friend role is doing a disservice to himself and her. You can’t be a proper friend to someone you’re attracted to because you can’t be objective, and her letting you be that close while knowing you’re attracted to her is unnecessarily cruel on her part. You can be friendly, but anything more should wait until you’re no longer attracted to her and can be objective with regard to her.

Oh, so she caught the flirting. Good, thought it might have been too subtle. Never gonna regret taking my shot, only missing my chance!

It’s always a risk op, you can take your shot, and risk rejection, or you can wait, and risk regret. With rejection you remove some of the fear because life goes on, and failure is part of the cost of success, so rejection has gains. Regret just wears you down with what ifs, we torture ourselves over what we did or didn’t do. Maybe she’s definitely not interested, or maybe she’s not sure, either way you can reassure her that you think she’s amazing and you’d rather risk rejection than regret. If…

On your first date, you’re just trying to see if you vibe with the other person! The first date should be fun not serious! Do something fun that one or both of you like, and would have done anyway. :)

Guys generally prefer directness, and transparency. If you tell him you would like to go on a date, if he’s interested, and available, but that it’s okay if he’s not interested or available right now, you’ve put yourself out there without looking desperate or putting him on the spot. He’ll graciously accept or reject your offer with no one loosing face, or if he’s the rare exception who’s a jerk about it, bullet successfully dodged! The only real way to lose is to not try, but you already knew t…

If she was into you, she wouldn’t need to think about it. It’s not her fault or yours. Be cool and apologize for asking her out at work, then enjoy your destination.

I appreciate you sharing your perspective, and experience. Thank you OP!

If you want to go deep with someone else that you just met, hypotheticals can help you keep it light, playful, and something the other is an absolute expert on. For example: you could ask “If you got a full year’s rebate on your rent/mortgage payments, but had to spend that on an experience sometime over the next year. It should be fun rather than practical, what would that look like?” Ask questions that help define, and build the dream.

Don’t know why an entitled request deserves a polite response, but just let her know that this is what her family or significant other is for, and since you’re neither, its not at all appropriate for you to do that.

“ fair enough, I’m not your type, I hope you have a great Time.” OP, everyone has a type they go for, and the faster you can sort through the ones that don’t appreciate your type, the better. While your looking though, having a mature reaction to rejection will get you noticed.

It kind of just depends on whether you want to debate , or just argue. Arguing, you both vent at each other, regardless of who attacked, until it escalates, or you each walk away with no resolution (unless someone concedes that they are in fact wrong). In a debate, you are arguing a position, not each other. For a good result you should establish a respectful position E.g., “ I respectfully disagree, I may be wrong, and will accept it if I am, but ...” If they attack after that, instead of argui…

You can certainly let a person know that you’d like to go out sometime if they are interested. What you cannot do, is wait around for someone to get interested. They may be attracted in that moment, or not. They may become attracted later, or not. Attraction like any other taste is very subjective, if you’re not to that person’s taste at the moment, that’s fine. As long as you are being genuine, and engaging people, you should find plenty of people you will click with now. If down the road that …

Thanks for your perspective op. It’s really helpful, and your point is well taken. Cold approaches can be a little daunting, and some encouragement is always welcome!

Hey op, hope everything works out well for you! I agree that you probably should invest a little more energy into your own self improvement. Withdrawing in order to make her chase you, seems a little manipulative for a long term relationship. Working on yourself, and not relying on another person for your own happiness is healthy, and generally considered more attractive. After 16 months you really owe it to each other to be honest with yourselves and each other about what you each need. You may…

100% agree. We can compare and contrast them. Each will have their positives and negatives based on our own criteria, but that is subjective. I don’t know how we can objectively say one is better than the other. Not that you’re suggesting we could. You stated a fact I agree with. I’m just building on a previous point. Thanks for the reply. Have a great day!

Ha! Right resource. I like that, thanks! I don’t know anyone (myself included) who hasn’t compared themselves to others at some point in their lives and felt lesser. Everyone though is complex and unique. Weighing our whole value as a person against an aspect we envy, or even appreciate, in someone else, is pointless. It’s apples to oranges. If there is an aspect of someone else that I admire ( like empathy,or positivity ), I will try to work on that in myself, but it won’t effect my own sense o…

At best there could only be one man in the world for whom there isn’t someone who is better looking, smarter, funnier, or taller (ha ha). The point is that there is no use in comparing yourself to anyone else. You are like a salesperson with a unique product that will be perfect for some lucky customers, that is your time, your attention, your companionship, but not yourself, that is never on offer. You know everything about the product, but not who the customers are. You just need to keep makin…

Here’s the thing about friends vs acquaintances. Acquaintances deserve politeness, and respect you give any other person. Friends however, are on a whole other level. Friends know the real you, and accept your flaws, as you do them. You don’t need many friends, but you need to be able to lean on them when you need to, and they need the same from you. You don’t need to share everything, but they deserve a lot more than you would show an acquaintance. As for people’s opinions, the best dish in the…

You’re fine op. Everybody has boundaries, and they need to be respected. Just make sure that you communicate those to your dates as soon as is appropriate. You want them to know that it’s casual sex your rejecting, not your date.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
