“independent and selfish without being accountable to anyone” -This is not compatible for any type of relationship. Source: My ex came and went with the same attitude convinced me she changed every time. Now that I’m older, wiser, I have wished her well and will never allow her back in my life again.

Great advice, but she is likely going to serve him sooner than later. I don’t disagree with the strategy, but he should start preparing for the inevitable.

Not everything you said was wrong. Men can tip the scales. But ultimately courts side with the children’s best interest, which is often interpreted as full custody to mommy. I also survived family court. And ya, the lawyers were both essentially coworkers using us as tools to milk as many hours from us as they could. It was totally obvious. My lawyer literally played soft ball the whole time while I built my own case by demanding things get submitted to the court. At one point my attorney stoppe…

She is already plotting. Look for any large transactions that could be associated with a retainer fee. If you’re in a small town like me, you better lawyer up first because this can get tricky if she hires the better lawyer before you. Absolutely start counseling individually asap. This looks good on you and in the event of GAL involvement or mandatory psych eval you can already come with a clean bill of sale. This will also help you keep your cool when she tries to get you fired up emotionally …

Pursue couples counseling. Find and fix the problems you can own up to, she should do the same. If there is no infidelity or abuse, it’s better to try and find a path forward together than apart. The easy way ends up being the hardest. Again, abuse and infidelity are reasons to quit. My relationship ended after abuse and infidelity became way too regular and the children were suffering from witnessing it daily. They now have two healthy homes. But I could swing 50/50. You’re going to lose everyt…

Let me guess, she played you by insulting your manhood? Probably attacked your perception of friends and family in order to keep your interactions minimal? Started arguments and by the end of the argument not only did she convince you that you started it, but that your tone was abusive? I could go on. I’m willing to bed more than one of these applied. You should start celebrating. Find yourself and love that guy.

Lived through some shit man. I can tell you once the fog of war clears, you’ll gain insight into yourself. Maybe start asking why you enabled this behavior for so long so you don’t let it happen again in the future. Every narcissist needs someone to enable them. My ex went and found the most sorry ass dude to replace me and I had to look at myself as being on that level. Wow, that was a wake up call. Luckily I had already done a lot of the hard work and asked her for the divorce. Don’t let it br…

Just finished a 3 year divorce. Lost everything in the fight. But I’m getting myself out of debt. Paid down what I could from the equity of our house sale. Worth every penny to have my kids 50/50. My lawyer was a scam artist. I swear he was friendly with the other attorney on a let’s get some cash together business basis. But in the end I directed to submit pictures of text messages etc. that proved she was just squeezing me for money. Don’t settle, debt isn’t forever and kids are only kids once…
