Am woman. Kind of think I understand the female perspective (omg we can do logic too omg omg). And I definitely don't want to date some loser who's walking on eggshells because he's confused me with an easily spooked deer or something. I like dating men who are confident in themselves and know there is nothing to be embarrassed about or scared of when it comes to - gasp!! - a feeling. If the guy thinks I'm scared that probably just means he's scared and there's not much less sexy than that. But …

I know a guy just like that... I know like half a dozen guys just like that. I don't even think it's that some girls are like that and some guys are like that and some girls aren't and some guys aren't. I really think that it's a situational thing. Maybe stop hitting on girls that get scared by this entirely non scary thing. What's the appeal of dating a coward? Like what are these girls afraid of, another human's emotions?? It's not your job not to be scary, it's your job to find someone who isn't scared.

Rule shmule. Follow your heart. If your feelings are weak you can keep them to your chest, why not. If your feelings are strong, let them loose and let the dice fall as they may. Just follow what feels right and don't be an idiot or an asshole. It's not like there's a magic formula. What you said about girls is just as true about guys in my experience - I just think it's a human thing.

As a girl, I think you did absolutely the right thing. I would have so appreciated this action over awkward flirting. Even if I'm not into a guy, I can respect this in a way I can't respect wheedling hints. Once, it went on for years, but he never gave me the chance to make it explicitly clear I wasn't interested because he never brought it up. Then he tried to kiss me once while I was rolling and he wasn't (ew) and it was the opposite of smooth because he just smacked his mouth into the vague v…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
