Has anybody interest in getting in touch about ADHD and what it brings with it? Basically, swapping notes how each one is dealing with it?

You hear this "Don't compare yourself to others" everywhere. But what's with the social hierarchy? That's how society evolved. On the top there are the most powerful and capable guys and in the bottom the opposite. How should you not think about this underlining reality?

Thanks Meloxian, it's kind of hard trying to find a mental model or wrapping your head around that fact, that you always have to work from a position of less power and nobody can't see it, as if for example you would have an amputated limb for example and try to run as fast as others over 1000 m. I do think working as hard despite the fact is still better than using the diagnosis as a crutch, but I do think it will take a long time to wrap my head around it this.

What do you do if you have a ADHD diagnosis that makes it harder to implement something like that than for people without it?

Why do you have a girlfriend in uni?

That sounds like a great strategy I sympathize with as well. Red pill fundamentals are great for that, rather than tucking the tail in, I see so many guys do. I just simply refuse to be one of them. A lot make eyes like blinded deers when I mentioned to man up or toughen it out. I am with you as I also think a lot of people in the health industry, be it internet or professionals push sometimes drugs to much as I can't understand the appeal in taking them besides focusing more. I am the same with…

Yeah, I am very sure I can do actually really great in an office environment as I have done great in group projects at Uni. Taking the methylphenidate I am always afraid of loosing inherent characteristics about me, so people have difficulties relating to me. Shifting focus, I'll try that. I am exactly like that when it comes to needing fresh ideas to refocus. I think I will do great in a R&D department. Have you ever had the problem feeling inadequate after the diagnosis and because of it? I of…

Thanks man. So, would you say, you'd dismiss the diagnosis? I don't judge you if you would, as thoughts like these come up. I feel burdened by the diagnosis tbh and felt better before and thought about looking at the arguments from the other side, like Dr. Richard Saul. I am not 100% settled on the topic XD.

You should have come here before you broke up with her. I would have tried to train her. Go to the gym with her, slowly shaping her to your wishes. I'd have tried everything I could to change her. OTOH last year I "broke up" with a great FWB, I know, not a LTR, but it felt like it and personality-wise she has behaved great. It was just 7 months but nonetheless. Before her, a month before literally the relationship with my GF ended and I was afraid I couldn't find somebody better. But lo and beho…

I know dude, but somehow I am very singular when it comes to my preferred field. I think it's really type dependent. Either you are good at sales or not. I think you need to been born with it in this case. I have always been somebody who likes to build stuff or took stuff apart to see how it functions rather than the "lemonade stand" type of guy. In this regard I do think, something where I can build something does fit me better.

Never disqualify yourself. Always let them find out, why they shouldn't date you.

You need to warm up, meaning try on some 4s or 5s, then step up your game. You don't start in F1, but rather karts don't you?

I'd wonder what vibe you are giving off so that women even would dare to bring something like that up. Other than that, I'd just say something grandiose and ridiculous about an astronomical fact and associate it with me. Or pressure flip it into something funny, along the lines of referencing the Saturn star belt alongside some standards you have in girls e.g. Be creative.

Well, I found the best engineers in my field seem very collected, clear in their thoughts, very logical, charismatic as well of course. So basically the opposite to your "ordinary" ADHDer. Also my profs.

Have already eliminated porn/videogames, just smoked weed when I was 15 a couple of times. I feel just in such a slump, overwhelmed right now that making a schedule, working on it seems sort of not on the menu yet because for me there is this more overarching theme about having a "disability" I can't wrap my head around as I have struggled many years feeling inadequate due to a football injury in my face. So this coming sort of out of nowhere has zeroed me out a lot to be honest. My whole ego ha…

Thank you! I do think if in the right industry, where you have some passion for, it is also the way to go for me. And over time, it probably is a natural route to go into a more managing role.

I'd really be interested why you left engineering as I have toyed and am toying with this idea as well, due to the diagnosis and an eventual better fit in another industry. Private message me, as this is probably something that should be discussed separately.

Yep, I tried methylphenidate, but it made me very reclusive, short-tempered and "reduced" my character, although studying and doing tasks has been much easier on it. I'll try a lower dose tomorrow as that could be the reason for it, but overall it is fair to say that taking medicine makes me even more aware of the "defect". Sort of a catch 22, I won't be able to finish my degree without it, but without the degree, I'd not know what else to do :( as mechanical engineering is great.

Be proactive. It's a give and take. I feel banter comes after you've established a solid working base. Means guys naturally bond over activities or struggles. Have you redeemed yourself worthy tackling school, work, advice, etc.?

Well, give it time young padawan. It is a hard pill to swallow, but try to see the reason why girls do that. Understand the theory and keep doing what you do.

I second the comment about value. What do you think you have to offer? Knowledge on a specific topic you can share with others? Are you better at some things than others? If yes, they want to hang out with you to learn from you. Are you reliable, if so people will trust you. The list goes on.

Well yeah, I do exercise regularly, I am on a diet, etc. but I really struggle with the self-stigmatization of it, as in, I always feel as I have some sort of a defect. I am as far as I'd delude myself into an empowering mindset over the diagnosis as in completely dismissing it. As I am new to the diagnosis, how do you think about it, especially in the aforementioned environment? I probably would not have as many problems with it, if I would be in a "creative" environment.

If you want to keep carbs in it, eat potatoes. Healthiest type of carb. If you need to lose weight quickly, look into keto.

These types of girls make good FWB. Transitioning from plate to FWB is mostly always seamless if you know her for some time already.

Yeah, you fucked up there. Never make yourself unattractive and never disqualify yourself in any way, shape or form. Mentioning "boy" in a context where you talk about yourself is rp101. Avoid mentioning things you don't want to be associated with talking about yourself. Easy as that.

Have them indirectly known that you have a busy life, so you have plausible deniability when texting short or not directly when they text. They are basically children in the upper cabinet. Especially 18, 19 year olds.

WTF? I didn't even had to read half of the first paragraph. She's a fucking plate first, so who cares if she talks with a "co-worker". Second paragraph should tell you all you have to know about this gurl.

She seems to be more aware than you that she is just a plate. If it would be a LTR I'd soft next her.

Asking straight for her name is bad timing IMO. Look for something situational to poke fun at or talk about with her. Something relatable.

Looked into it today, looks like fun, but they are maybe strong as fuck, but don't have any definition. The guy I have been watching, Alan Thrall, is eating like an animal. If you want to get strong as fuck I'd do the same ofc. Powerlifting is I think similar. I might be left with reducing the cardio I do to a bare minimum and mostly do short HIT session to keep my endurance and slide in recovery sessions after a day of lifting.

You are right. I set the rules. Fuck what they say. I have been pondering about saying 'Fuck it', as my actually only big field where it really fucked me up has been studying, which surprisingly was quickly resolved with the medication. I shouldn't let a fucking sheet of paper have control over my ego, is what I've gotten out of what you said and you are absolutely right. I feel it has or is destroying more than it helps to be honest.

I have been thinking about exactly this dichotomy. Steering into these ADHD characteristics, I, for my part see no merid in it at all for me personally in comparison, to what you said about applying discipline, straightness in character as I have in the past. I do feel that would grant me a more fulfilling life as it gives me control and a way of holding myself I am proud of as I honor honest, hard work, tenacity and accuracy.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
