No. If a woman has no male friends, and a bad father, being in a relationship with a good man would change her view of men. A lesbian is far less likely to be in a relationship with a man. Someone with a negative opinion of men is more likely to be an outspoken feminist, which would be why a disproportionate fraction of them are lesbian.

If a child only has role models of one gender, they won't have a good sense of how the other gender acts. They might know it intellectually, but if the only thing they know about the gender they aren't being raised by is that Dad is a lying coward, or that Mom is a cheating whore, then they are at a disadvantage to someone who was raised by/regularly interacts with both.

Previously, childcare and housekeeping were full time jobs, and child mortality was so high that to have a few children survive to adulthood, one would need to have a lot. There were also very few non-physical labor based jobs, so men were the breadwinners. Technology has everything to do with it.
